"Bite" Power Attack

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 11:37 am

So, maybe this is listed somewhere and maybe I didn't search hard enough, but I've had no luck, thus far...

I've been leveling my Vampire Lord perks and I keep reading about using the "Bite" Power Attack, however. I assume you need to be in melee mode for this to activate, but when does it activate? I have yet to see the option. Am I over thinking it and not realizing it's a simple button press? Do I have to be up close and wait for it to appear on-screen? Any help would be very appreciated!

It happens just like a finisher move. When the opponent's health is very low, you press and hold the attack button. It automatically happens from time to time.

I see. That makes a lot of sense, especially since I haven't spent a lot of time in melee mode to figure this out. Thanks for the info!

I had a hard time getting this to work. It happened like twice in my whole vamp play through.

The two times I deliberately tried this it actually worked other times it didn't. I just wished it happened automatically if the person low on health anyway. It would make the perk that fully restores your health when you power bite more useful.

I was getting the occasional power bite finisher but couldn't figure why and what was needed to create it. Odd because all my attacks had been in magic hover mode. Yes, blasting my magics real close up must have had something to do with some infrequent biting finishes. I plan to do more melee-ing with my poisoned talons so, I should see plenty of power bites now. Thanks for the tip.

Basically, if you can get an outright kill with a hold down the button melee attack, you stand a chance to get the bite attack. In practice, if you have a follower like serana who pelts everyone with ice spears you will be lucky to get it. I've managed to get it on some sneak attacks, which is pretty cool, but as a means of boosting up your perk points it's really a lot of work and way slow...I found it more convenient and faster to resort to the life drain spell thing. It's a shame, because I thought that bite kills would be a pretty cool and common thing for vamps (that said though, take vampiric grip and bounce dudes of walls and finish them with a bite...that helps you wear them down and let's you judge better when it may work).

If you have a follower with you it seems to be a very rare occurance. But solo in melee mode I often get the bite attack. But usualy I vampiric grip and then blast drain health out of them.

The bite power attack you need to use in New Allegiances works like pickpocketing and feeding - you do it in human form.
