Bizarre Keyboard Behavior

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 3:22 pm

So. While I'm logged in my left and right arrow keys don't work normally. Not in games, not in word edit, not for scrolling.

However, it does work when I hold down ctrl or shift and highlights text or moves the cursor the way you'd expect it to in these situations. Here's the weirdest part, it works on the password field of the log-in screen, but not once I've logged in. And then sometimes it works normally.

Anyone have an idea what could cause this and how I can stop it? I'm guessing I have some hotkey set up that I don't know about, but I don't remember installing anything that would do this.

Which browser are you using? I remember this behavior in IE 9 (compatibility mode off). It might affect other browsers, but it does work fine with Firefox 6,7, and 8 (and 9, just updated).

I'm using Firefox but it behaves this way in all programs. My guess is it's some sort of accessibility option that in don't know about.

EDIT: I also can confirm that it's not a hardware issue because remapping the key using KeyTweak didn't have different results.

I went into safe mode so that my defragger could do a better job and the arrow keys worked then. I'm guessing there's some setting in my user profile that's screwing it up. Is there a way to reset my keyboard settings to default?
