Blackout bug?

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 7:18 am

Hello guys,

Yesterday I was playing my warrior, and went for the radiant quest to retrieve the helm of winter hold in Yngol Barrow.

Well, the bug starts as soon as I zone inside Yngol Barrow. The screen fades to pitch black, and I'm unable to save/load/walk/see/interact.

Anyone experienced similar bug? Im worried that I will not be able to finish this quest or get inside Yngol Barrow during this save file.

Yes I've had that bug , not sure what dungeon it was in though. I had to revert to an earlier save and avoid the dungeon it happened in.

It sounds suspiciously like the "Jefferson Memorial Bug" from Fallout 3 which we later dubbed the "Dead Cell Glitch" once we realised it can strike anywhere on the map. What used to happen is it would fail to load the area you entering and simply hang on the loading screen every single time you try to enter that area. This would cause a complete lockup requiring a hard reset, the only fix was to revert to an earlier save and hope for the best, otherwise start again.

I honestly and seriously hope that it's not the same bug with a slightly different symptom. But if you wanted any more proof that Creation Engine is a lie, another yet another bug from Fallout 3 is about as perfect proof as you're going to get.

No , mine wasn't like that. What happens is that the game lowers the brightness of the graphics. You hear the sounds as you normally would as if the game is working fine, just that the screen is black apart from the door exit symbol.

Thats precisely what happened to me. Unfortunately, I don't have an early save. I suppose I won't be able to finish that quest or get inside Yngol Barrow during this play through?

I did that once, but when I zoned back in, the same annoying bug happened. Are there any shout words inside that dungeon or anything important? Im considering skipping it.

Actually you need to reload an earlier save. The only way to continue from where you are is if you have autosave enabled. Most people turn it off, but if you leave it on. You can reload from the autosave and you will end up at where you last left off.

is it the one where the screen goes pitch black but you still can see the health bar, stamina bar ect.??? It happened to me but luckly I had saved before entering. it kept happening until I told my companion to wait outside, went back in a few more times until it stopped doing it.

I am also experiencing the Yngol Barrow blackout glitch. I tried going in and out, rebooting the system, reloading the save file. Same thing. Hot mess game.

Hot mess game.

Yeah... next time Bethesda offers that up on the menu, I might just try the soup instead.

That brings back scarey memories, ugh, if some version of that bug is what is causing this then the engine boasts start to look a little hollow. Has anyone tried equipping a torch to see if it is a turning down of the gamma glitch?
