Blackreach Hold

Post » Mon Sep 10, 2012 1:44 pm

Am I the only one here who loves Blackreach? I'm stoked each time I find a new way to get there. But I think Blackreach is more that just a massive dungeon with more loot than you can carry in three trips. I think it's a great opportunity. I want to conquer Blackreach.

Think about it. Most of the buildings are already there. You just need to bush back the falmer enough to establish a settlement. There are resources down there and places to establish as a castle, temple, guard barracks, market, prison, and anything else you need for a town.

This DLC would give you the option to become a Jarl and rule your hold as you see fit. You would be able to tip the balance of power if you haven't played the Civil war quest yet. You could be a rouge state and give aid to criminal groups. You could order NPCs to be executed at random. Or you could take in refugees and orphans and give them a new place to call home.

The DLC would need to include new plants that can and do grow down there and can be used as a resource. The Khajiit merchants would probably like a place to set up a permanent shop. Vampires would probably like to live there. They could just be people. They might even chose to give up being evil. There could even be subterranean dragons who don't have wings. They would climb up the walls of Blackreach and drop down on their victims from above.

LET THE TROLLING BEGIN!!!!!!!!! *coughs* I mean... Thoughts?

As someone who adores Blackreach and wishes he could live there, I have to second your motion. It would be a fair-sized hold, and probably very attractive to a good many people.

I've never understood why people haven't moved into Dwemer ruins, disabled the traps, removed all of the threats, and fixed those places up. Think of how much better Markarth, amongst other places, could be if they properly utilized the ruins beneath/nearby them.

Or-you could rule over some of the Falmer living there. Maybe ask Calcemo to come down and help you domesticate them?

I can't agree with this.
If just small settlement with small army then it's okay.
But if it becoming Hold and you are the Jarl, that's not good. What's about player who play as another races other than Nord? Of course Jarl Argonian is sounds a bit silly. Don't get me wrong.

I know. Even Nordic ruins offer shelter and resources. Bandits seem to be the only people in Skyrim with a mind for real estate.

I know a certain character from Dawnguard who would probably like a opportunity to try communicating with the Snow Elves. He could probably help them.

I can't agree with this.

That's the beauty of being a conqueror. Your subjects don't get to care about your race. Don't forget that whatever race a player chooses their character is still the Dragonborn sent by the gods to fight the World Eater. Such things as bigotry are of little consequence to the hero/villain of Skyrim.

I find Blackreach too dark, alien and scary to be living down there, no matter how populated it is...

Honestly, no. Firstly, I don't like the idea of becoming Jarl of anything. Secondly, I don't wish to make settlements in Blackreach. Why not leave it the way it is, a stunning underground cave with many mysteries and beautiful examples of Dwemer (and Falmer) culture? Does everything have to be urbanized?

Seeing that the Falmer can come in from all angles in there... No. You'd be perpetually beating back the Falmer, and no one would want to live there because of that.

I too love Blackreach & I'd go for any additional content down there! It would be awesome to at least have some safe house there (and other places, as folks have said there's a lot of real estate going to waste in Skyrim!). I'd go for at least being able to harvest [all] the plants there - it's so frustrating, they look like they'd make particularly good potions!

You know, if the Falmer could see how pretty Blackreach is - they might not be so crabby!

Small settlements with no Jarl is fine. A small army would be okay.

A Jarl Orc.. Kind of Strange if you think about it.

A Jarl Orc would probably make the Hold all Evil-ish, you must worship Malacath or Tribunal, or w/e.

Orcs aren't evil-ish. They're people, too! :cryvaultboy:

They didn't worship the Tribunal, either, those were the Dunmer. (I speak in past because nobody really worships them anymore)
