Blade of Whiterun : V

For the first time playing I got the Blade of Whiterun at Lvl 7 or something. I had always gotten it earlier than that before. Instead of the kick-ass Steel Battleaxe the Blade was an orcish war axe. What gives? Is this blade leveled?

Yes, it is. I would bet all the Thane reward weapons are.

You can get another one later. Depending on who you back in the Civil War, you can be made Thane of a hold twice when the Hold gets a new Jarl. My first reward weapon in Whiterun was a steel axe. The second one was a glass sword. Much better reward, obviously.

It is a randomly enchanted sword not leveled. Granted when you become Thane for the new Jarl (Grey-Mane) if you have taken the Stormcloak side in the war.

Huh. I always get the Axe of Whiterun. And because it's acquired at low levels its usually enchanted with 5 points of fire damage. I'm sure at some point I've used it but it's usually just a display item.

Last time I got the Axe of whiterun it was a Dwarven Battleaxe with 15 points of fire damage, most of the time I just get an Orcish war axe with a 2 second soul trap enchant on it. I'm pretty sure most of the reward weapons are leveled because I joined the Imperials at a high level and got a Daedric Sword of Inferno.

I got a War Axe, either iron or steel, with +5 frost damage. Did the quest fairly early. Level 6 or 8 I think.

The enchantments are random, only the weapon quality is rank based iirc. Have had orc war axe with asborb health on it before.

the enchantments are definitely random. I reloaded a few times before being named thane and each time the enchantment varied and the weapon type varied, though it was always the same material.
