Blinking Textures

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 6:10 pm

There's some blinking textures and several random things appearing on my screen every couple of seconds, really hard to play. I believe the issue is a tripple buffering / vsync setting that arrives from a conflict between AMD Catalyst Control Center and the games graphics settings.

Oh and for all the people who declared this not to be another console port, go to graphic options :P

Please provide system details when replying with this problem. This may be vendor specific. (though Im using the right vendor for the company)

This is a link to a temporary fix.

http://forums.bethso...1#entry18731851

My Catalyst settings that work (if you can call it working...)
2 6950's Rolled back to 11.8, crossfire disabled.
anti-aliasing, override application settings. Lowest Level, Filter standard.
anisotropic filtering off.
Tessellation AMD Optimized
Catalyst AI High quality, no surface format optimization.
Wait for vertical refresh, always off.
Anti-Aliasing Mode Performance.
Triple Buffering, unchecked.

P.S. Thank you for buying the closed beta.

Yea this is really bringing down my night. Someone should do something about this... Because it's happening to me too. The game looks great it's just this blinking thing, holy crap.

Keep me posted boys.

I believe it may be an overlay issue, whenever I take damage the flickering gets much worse. Please post your computer specs if you encounter this issue. I am running catalyst 11.9 (for battlefield 3)

Exact some problem and I won't post my computer specs but it is NOT an issue there. -__-

I am very disappointed, THIS is why I don't pre order anymore haha.

I'm going to have a seizure during this first mission lol

EDIT: Also anyone notice if you turn quickly there is a lot of texture pop in/low quality jumping to high quality?

On it right now, wouldnt be so bad if the enemies weren't blinking! One minute in I was hoping for a patch, record set. Im not even going to try to play in eyefinity right now, god knows what errors I'd get.

The few people that have posted this already all have gotten it from Steam (since I don't think any stores have done midnight openings for this game?) and everyone with issues seems to be running AMD graphics cards in Crossfire (which is why that patch to improve single card performance isn't helping). Is this true? I'm having these issues (pop-in graphics, blinking, and constant game crashing) and I got mine from Steam and have ATI cards. Hopefully it'll be resolved by the time I wake up tomorrow morning. My guess? Either the wrong version was preloaded on Steam (wait for updated version or reinstall the game), the game didn't decrypt correctly (reinstall the game), or there are issues with Crossfire (wait for new AMD drivers - oh god, let's hope it's something easier than this).

I'll probably read up on this tomorrow and if there isn't any news, I'll reinstall the game to see if that fixes anything and then try it with Crossfire disabled to see if that fixes anything.

I'm running:
i7-2600K
16 GB RAM
Dual 6950's
Win 7 64 bit

The entire HUD and my gun/hand flicker in and out.
Texture pop in worse than Halo 2s cutscenes (remember those?) can't turn at all without seeing basic colours.
Random lines/textures/objects flickering across the screen.

Win 7 64bit
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @3.2ghz
4gb DDR3 1600 RAM
Sapphire HD 6870 1GB
(Installed the hotfix with no benefit)

This game is broken and unplayable.

Radeon HD 5570 (1GB) here. No SLI. Rage Performance Driver. General flickering, and wrong textures being loaded-- mountain sides appear as blocky patches of pipes and metal walls, etc.

Yeah, a lot more people are posting issues, and it still seems to be an AMD problem, but not limited to Crossfire setups. I haven't seen any NVidia complaints yet, but I'd image they'll have their own set of issues. Yay for day 1 problems! -_-

this seems to be affecting everyone equally without discrimination for once, poor form on both id's and bethesda's part here, things like this should have been fixed before launch, and if that is not possible then a 0day patch should have been ready.

Considering Bethesda's track record with PC games (namely the rebooted Fallout series), expect things to be a while. However, since this is ID's game and their new tech engine, maybe we'll get something sooner?

Or if you got a piece of [censored] computer lying around try installing it on that, chances are it will run better.

I'm running dual 6970's with i7 960 and 12gb of RAM. Getting 60fps but the flickering is a big issue. Especially since enemies flicker as well. That's fun... Come on iD, do something. I would really like to enjoy this fine product of yours.
