Blood over vision...

Can anyone link me to a mod that disables the blood that splatters over your screen when you're attacked? I find it pretty unrealistic unless I'm wearing glasses.

At the bottom of your fallout.ini change bScreenSplatterEnabled=1 to bScreenSplatterEnabled=0

That's weird... I came in here and I saw only the OP's post, but once I posted Agramon's post showed up. Hyper ninja'd.

Thank you for that.

The OP's post reminded me that FO doesn't have a gore setting—also that most mods ADD gore, rather than decrease it. :sadvaultboy:

This made me go through the Console commands and the ini files but, silly me, I was looking for gore or blood (which I found BTW but it didn't apply to blood on the PC.)

I changed my Fallout.ini to what Agramon said, but I still get blood over my vision...

Scratch that. I went back into my Fallout.ini and realized that the bloodsplatter setting had reverted back to 1 somehow... Hopefully it's just a fluke. I'll get back to you on whether it is or not.

Edit: It wasn't a fluke, but I've fixed it regardless. Thanks Agramon!

Edit: Scratch that again. I though I'd fixed it, but it turns out it'd mislead me again... When I try to change the .ini, it says, "This file is read only blah blah blah" so I go into the properties of the Fallout.ini and uncheck the read only option. I click apply and Ok. I close the window, and I even go back into the properties to make sure it worked, and it shows that the read only setting is unchecked. So I go to edit the .ini, I change the bloodsplatter thing from 1 to 0, go to save as, Fallout, "This file already exists" Overwrite. I close the file, open it back up to double check that it worked, and it does. However, once I go into the actual game and take damage, I still get loads of blood on my screen everytime I'm damaged. So I exit the game and go back to the .ini. Sure enough, the file has somehow reverted back to read only and bScreenSplatterEnabled=1. It's strange too, because it's not like it's the normal amount of blood on the screen that you usually get, my screen becomes like completely covered with blood, to the point where I can't see anything. Help me out guys!

If you are using the NV launcher, I think you have to edit the Fallout_default.ini (in the game directory) to get the settings to stick. Just make sure that you backup the original first.

It sounds like you have somehow changed the DecalBloodSplatter01 Texture [Decals\FXBloodSplatterDecals01.dds] (with a mod perhaps?) . . . or that the time for the decals to remain was increased a bunch.

Also make sure that iMaxDecalsPerFrame=10, in the Fallout_default.ini (which is the default setting), a hIgher value allows more decals to be displayed, which can get messy. I released a Less_Blood mod for FO3, so I'm sort of familiar with the blood (and gore stuff), and NV seems to be mostly the same.

Well I changed the Fallout_Default.ini, and now bScreenSplatterEnabled=0 every time I check, but nothing's changed in game. I'll go investigate the whole decals thing you brought up though, Arwen.

Edit: Lemme try what you just edited in.

You might also try editing the FalloutPrefs.ini (in Documents/My Games/FalloutNV) . . . that seems to work better for some edits, on some systems.

Where's iMaxDecalsPerFrame located? Also, I've already tried editing FalloutPrefs, does the same thing as when I edit Fallout.ini.

Look in the Fallout_Default.ini, under [Display]

I changed that to =0 and once again, no dice. I'll see if I can find Decals\FXBloodSplatterDecals01.dds.

Edit: Can't find Decals\FXBloodSplatterDecals01.dds. What directory is it in?

It would be under Data\Textures, but would only appear if a mod added/changed it (and it might be under a Texture subdirectory, depending how the mod was packaged).

I don't see it anywhere, but I'll start deactivating some of my mods and seeing what happens.

Woohoo! Finally fixed it. I disabled one of my mods that I didn't need and it's gone. Thanks for all of the help everyone.
