Blue Square under player marker on World Map

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 5:16 am

I have noticed an issue with the "You are Here" player marker on the world map. I'm sure most of you have noticed this from time to time. A screenshot of the issue is below.

Note

I have removed the actual player marker, and all marker locations from the map. The only thing that is visible is this blue square, that appears under the location of the player.

Any help is appreciated.

I have that too. I thought it might be caused by an object with the "On Local Map" check box ticked that I added, but it seems it's not the cause...

I've seen squares similar in different locations, but I think nothing of it cause the map is basically a miniature LODized picture of the Skyrim, and thus everything is still subject to being rendered. Some might not finish rendering I guess.

Anyone else able to shed some light on this?

I've had similar things happen. Most of the time it is LOD water popping up above the land on the world map, though in your case I can't tell. As far as I know, you replace the cloud mesh, so that seems like the most likely cause (as it's not like a cloud mesh can fail to load LOD chunks).

My guess is simply water popping up above your clouds.

I remember this being an issue with the vanilla mesh as well.

Hmm. It seems to always be under the player marker. It's hard to tell in that screenshot, but the blue figure is actual a square, if you look directly down onto it. There are also usually 4 or 5 other blue squares directly below it, which is easier to see in the screenshot. It follows the player marker around wherever you go.

I have observed this as well, on the default Skyrim world map. I noticed this when I first started playing in November 2011 I believe.
