GI Blues question - Stuck

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:15 am

Ok so my other thread isn't getting any replies, and I have been waiting for an hour for people to answer and help me solve my problem; but it is just falling down the list of topics and nobody is replying so I'll make another one.

I am doing the GI Blues quest; and want to help NCR by getting Kings to stop attacking them, but I am at a point in the mission where I have to "Aid Pacer" in a gunfight with NCR. I try to approach the NCR with my weapon holstered and they still turn hostile and shoot at me, so my only option is to help Pacer. But doing so lowers my rep with NCR, which I intend to side with.

I also heard you can approach the Major and convince her to end it peacefully, but I can't get close without them shooting at me. Even with an NCR outfit on they turn hostile.

What do I do?!

I started this quest, but quickly abandoned it when I saw it was leading me towards confrontation with NCR...I'm interested to hear if there is a peaceful solution!

Yea I want to end it peacefully, because you need to complete this quest to get "For the Republic!" but I don't want to side with the NCR, by lowering my rep with them for mandatory killing them. This is dumb. Somebody please come in here and tell me a peaceful way to do this! Haha

hmmm...personally havent done the quest (siding with the romans on my current play thru) but make sure your not wearing a disguise or have a companion with you thats hostile to ncr (I've read somewhere that if boone is your companion the legion will attack you even if you have good standings with them so it might be the same with the ncr)

If your like myself and save multiple times, save and load another and redo the quest...You might of done something by mistake that made them hostile.

Or it could just be a bug *shrugs*

You might need to go back a bit in the quest for this, when you ask around go to the fort and talk to the doctor in charge, she will introduce you to the NCR leader. Turns out the NCR approached the kings about working together and their envoy got a beating for their troubles. This wasn't on the King's orders however, Pacer overstepped the mark, tell the King the NCR want peace and you get end it with both factions liking you.

I did talk to her, but never heard anything about the messenger or whatever; so it wasn't a dialogue choice. The next save previous to this one is 3 hours back....

Well, she would've sent you to a new area where you would've met the NCR Officer in charge of the operation, and thus been able to talk her down later when you meet her in the shootout with Pacey.

So, no. There is no way to peacefully resolve it because of the choices you didn't make. You'll have to reload if you want to peacefully solve it.

Asking around the squatter camp is still an objective, but it doesn't show the marker anymore after the help Pacer thing. So where are the squatters so I can manually go there and do that objective first?

In the first area of Freeside. behind the Mormon Fort, and in the alley across from Ralp and Mick's.

But It really wouldn't help you now. Because the people who are attacking Pace are the people who the squatter camps would have lead you too beforehand.

After talking to the injured guys I went back to The King, he sent me to ask around and I got an (optional) visit the Doctor. King is familiar with her as she repaired his dog, I think he suggested it. Go talk to her and she gives you the name and a location.

She might be more co-operative because I got her a reliable supplier and already have rep in Freeside.

I had this problem, since I hadn't talked to the doctor, even though I met the ncr officer previously at the food distribution building. If you don't mind cheating a little, you can turn clipping off and walk through the building or concrete pile to talk to the officer without turning them all hostile. The quest completion seems to end properly, though I don't know for certain there isn't something missing.
