Hey guys, so I'm married to Mjoll which is awesome because she can't die and she ****s everything up. The problem is I can't get another follower to sacrifice to complete this quest as they always say "looks like you already have a follower". I can't hire a merc either.

Is there some sort of workaround for this? I do NOT want to dismiss Mjoll.

Just dismiss her and get a merc you don't care about if you have a house then Mjoll will go there since you are married or go to her normal location. The only other way I can think of is if you have a mod which allows multiple followers.

Welcome to the forums. Part company with Mjoll, take a mercenary for the quest and then find Mjoll again in Riften. Ask her to be your follower again and problem solved.

As others have said, you can dismiss followers and ask them to follow you again.

Oh cool, I thought if I dismissed her she'd be gone forever. So, we can then get re-married or do we stay married and I simply have to ask her to follow me again?

No, you get automatically divorced if you are more than 1 cell away from your wife.
