I really want that book on repair in the Sloan worker barracks, but when I grab it, someone yells "thief" and takes the book back. Tried sneaking and even a Stealth Boy. Is there any way to get everyone out of the barracks??? Most left but 2 are still in there. Any other way to get it??

ps I have cleared the quarry of deathclaws, so I figured everyone would be back to work

grab the book...dont take it [eg: pick it up with the z key]

sneak/walk it to a spot you can stay hidden,then take it

You can steal that book easy enough by just jumping on the bed and sneaking to grab it.

Or you can just grab the book and read it before they get to you....

I found by healing the little beast outside that the shack was then empty and I could borrow the book.

i learned the hard way about getting caught..ran outside fast read the book fast...but

still lost all stolen goods including my stealth suit..had to reload 3 saves backwards to get it back,was way too low a level to pick the lock on the confiscated goods box....
