Bookshops

Are there any bookshops in Skyrim or any place where I can get a lot of books? Apart from the college.

Nope. Bookstores seems to have been "ninja snipped" from the series.

Every general store has some books (I've seen some non-spellbooks in magic merchants too), but there isn't really a bookshop in the game. You can steal a lot of them from the Jarl's residing places big cities, though.

That pisses me off somewhat. One of my characters in Oblivion used to take the long journey from anvil to the Imperial City for the soul purpose of buying books. Oh well I'll get over it.

Got an idea for a new character to rp. A scholar who is coming to skyrim to open the, first library the country has ever had. Lol all he will do is find books and buy a house to display them. Hahahahaha, now for irony's sake, ill make him a Khajiit since the nords think so highly of tjem

There is a library in the college of winterhold. However the bards college has the most extensive amount of books anywhere in Skyrim.

For some reason, Nords don't strike me as avid readers.

The books have a lot of good info and insight into the lore of the elder scrolls universe. They provide deep history and also can increase your players attributes if read. In my opinion, you miss out on alot if you choose not to read them.

Nords are big dumb animals. Funny that they look down on the Dunmer and Khajiit the way they do.

Really? Maybe you don't like the lore and the funny and/or serious nature of Tamriel.

I miss bookstores.

There are a few libraries in the game, but it's not the same without a bookstore to putter in.

Actually, that behavior occurs in real life all too often.

Well no because there were inn in Oblivion. Maybe it is just the fact that Nords don't read. Also there seems to be alchemy shop in every town and I thought Nords weren't a lover.

Yeah... it strikes me that any bookshop opening in Skyrim's cities (with the possible exception of Solitude) would go out of business pretty quickly. Maybe that's what happened to them? Times are tough...

That isn't a bad thing. It is just a preference. I too could care less. I read the books and promptly hit Tab if it doesn't give me a skill up.

Yes. I can see that you would have little use for books.

What are you just saying?

That people who laugh a lot don't need books? That you don't need books to have a good time? That books cause seizures?

Calling the Cow "library" a library is kinda wrong, since you can actually read most of the "books" there.
