Boomers at the Dam

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 11:18 am

I knew that the boomers were going to shell your enemy during the final battle and yet I still stood in awe as the B 29 carpet bombed the dam. This one single moment tops the appearances of liberty prime and the nuking of megaton combined. Thanks for bringing this moment into the fallout universe, Obsidian.

Seriously? I barely noticed the carpet bombing, I was too busy fighting, and whenever I thought I had a second to spare to look at my surroundings or to look at the plane I discovered my vision was getting blurred as I was getting shot in the head again. At least with Liberty Prime and the Megaton nuke you can actually focus on their awesomeness, with the carpet bombing it was like "Hey when you get a second, do us a favor and look at this plane- oh you're getting shot again. Well, whenever you get a moment..."

A big stompy robot throwing nukes, spewing anti-communist rhetoric and shooting lasers at dozens of Enclave soldiers was pretty damn epic and I don't think a plane bombing the Hoover Dam is anywhere near as awesome.

Agreed! I saved my game right before wiping Megaton off the map just so i could watch it anytime i wanted. Nothing else has even come close to that yet.

It was an awesome moment. I heard this whistling noise, at first I thought it was

Spoiler

the Enclave Remnants coming in with their virtibird

then I looked up and saw this huge bomber slowly, gracefully, fly over and release its payload. I was like.. wow... brings a tear to the eye, stuff like that.

Saying that, the Bomber was probably the best part about the final battle, which was a bit of an anticlimix after that...

I missed the bomber on my first playthrough, as I recall I briefly went inside one of the towers then came back outside and noticed the glowing hot surface texture on the floor of the dam.

this. I didn't see any bomber... Maybe I was too busy trying to keep rex alive.

(and yes they idolize me and I made sure they were fighting with NCR before the DAM fight)
