OK so I was doing The House Always Wins, II mission but had to talk to Caesar to complete it which is in the quest Render Unto Caesar so I can go into the bunker. After deciding not to blow it up I leave back to Cottonwood Cove. I had already asked Boone to wait in the first building on the right in Ranger Station Charlie and left the building to do the mission. When I came back after fast traveling I discovered the Station had seemed to be attacked by Caesar because each Ranger's dead body in the building had a mine next to it. I had left Boone next to some old armor i didn't want to carry around and discovered he and the armor was missing! Before I fast traveled it even said Boone was at the Ranger Station and I don't know if he was killed because I couldn't find his body and I didn't see a message that he died show up. I traveled to Novac to go to his hotel room to see if he was there and he wasn't! I wasn't saving very frequently so it would take a while to back track so can someone tell me if this has happend before and how to fix it.

P.S after I left the building I put on Caesar armor to blend in the camp and took it off before fast traveling back to the Station.

When the Ranger Station is attacked, it replaces the existing cell with a new cell, so Boone is trapped in limbo. Your best bet will be to go over to Novac and wait/rest for a day or three. Ideally his companion script will reset itself and send him back home after being apart for that long.
