Bosmer Frustration

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 3:43 am

In all the TES games to date (other than Redguard) I have played a Bosmer at least once. To be honest it is my favorite rogue race.

But, Skyrim is making this tradition for me nearly impossible. Without using some of the supermodel mods, I can not for the life of me make a female Bosmer that does not look like a bug-eyed freak. I suppose that lore-wise Bethesda wanted to show a better visual connection between the Altmer and Bosmer, but they just look so bad IMO. Has anyone found a way to make a decent looking female Bosmer in Skryim?

Thanks.

EDIT: Oh, if you got one show me a pic!

YouTube, why didn't I think of that. But I agree she's not that attractive. In fact that is about what I end up with.

Second article has some good general tips though. Thanks.

Dude, if you think Bosmer Females are tricky you've never even tried to make an attractive Dunmer... :)

Well I have played a Orc and Dunmer, but they were both male and I thought they looked great. But then I have much higher standards for females. :D

What finally got me to make a good looking character was to mod the game so the sliders had numeric values on them, then use a guide showing what values to select. You can interpolate these values to a console version. Also, there were some websites that showed different character slider settings for Oblivion. I have not found one of these for Skyrim yet, but if you practice in Oblivion using these slider settings, then you can transfer those settings to the sliders in Skyrim.

Since Fallout 3 and New Vegas are similar, you can find beauty guides for those games and apply those techniques in this game. In fact, Fallout 3/NV is closer to Skyrim Face Gen than Oblivion's is.

I was very satisfied with my Bosmer. Here's a really http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v333/mzeares/01012012_001.jpg. She looked even better once I got an HDTV. She's one of the presets with slightly narrowed and pointier features (which is exactly how I wanted her to look) and red eyes. I think she was beautiful (I deleted her for a 1.4 restart -- she was full of broken quests). But then, I don't want my elves to look too human. I actually prefer the Dunmer over the others.

Well I made a bosmer male and he looks pretty badass. Got a large goatee and a mohawk and all that. Rather badass if you ask me...rather badass indeed.

Well, introducing Fara, my Bosmer archer.

To be honest ... she still looks like a bug-eyed freak, but that's about the best I can get.

She's not so bad :)

I managed what I deem a fairly pretty-boy bosmer. Working on getting some quality screen shots of him. Poor guy still is working on what he wants to be when he grows up (really new character).

Still prettier than any Bosmer I managed in vanilla Oblivion and aren't Bosmer supposed to be bug-eyed.

Well, this is my bosmer character, I think she doesn't look that bad. Took a while to get it right though. No visible mods involved in that pic.

Added more pictures. It really matters how the environment is lit, as it seems. What I like about Bosmer in Skyrim is how their eye color changes depending on the lighting. Didn't notice this with other races.

And really, compared to other TES games, faces in Skyrim look awesome imho. No blocky blury flat faces like in Morrowind or peach monsters 'made in Oblivion'. And kawai/hentai/moe mods didn't really help it...

Some of us appear to have forgotten what Bosmer looked like in Morrowind: http://images.uesp.net/a/a9/MW-npc-Fargoth.jpg

I started with the preset with the shoulder length dark hair and made a fairly pretty Bosmer from there.

Yeah, no matter how I tweaked my Bosmer gal, she always ended up with features that looked like you could slice pickles with them. Not a curvaceous, sensual race, by any means.
