Bosmer or Khajiit?

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 11:14 pm

Like alot of you are probably doing I've been going over what race/build I plan to play before the game comes out. I loved my standard Assassin build in Oblivion so I figured I'd stick with the same concept this time around as well. I have everything planned out with the exception of the race, can't decide between Bosmer or Khajiit. I don't mind playing either one, although I'd honestly like to try Khajiit out this time since I was a Bosmer in the last game. I actually had this same issue in Oblivion, and the deciding factor for why I picked Bosmer last time was I had heard that the beast races cannot become vampires. I don't know if this is also the case in Skyrim or not, but I would assume if all races can be werewolves this time around that the same would be true for vampires. Can anyone confirm this for me? Also, if I played a Khajiit would most of Skyrim think I'm a skooma addict? :P

I vote Khajiit just because Beasts > Elves.

I have the same problem. I wanted to be a khajiit in Oblivion but they were just so ugly... so I was always a bosmer! So now I guess im just going to wait 6 days and see which one feels best

Bah, those short, stumpy wood elves might be murderous, but they havn't the finesse or skill to match a khajiit in the game of knives - they lost their war they launched against the khajiit did they not?

Last person you'd listen to is someone who sells cheap spells.

I think a khajiit is the stereotypical sneaky race.

Depends on your type of character in terms of sneak.

Range Thief = Bosmer
Melee= Kitty
Navy Seal= Lizard

I'd have to say Khajiit, they have night eye and are skilled in Stealth, plus they're my favorite race but not as Assassins / Thieves.

I really like the look of Khajitts this time but don't like the tail, planning to play a lot in third person view so I wonder if that tail movement is going to distract me... If you just could cut it like a pitbull or something. My first character is going to be a silent assassing and Khajiits match my needs wonderfully, but the tail...arggg i'll just have to see it in movement and then decide.

I usually favor bow combat but I have yet to see a bow kill animation. That and the fact arrows are said to be rarer this time around would suggest melee stealth kills may be a better primary kill method overall. Anyone know if Khajiit can be vampires? If so that seals the deal for me.

I was first going to make a bosmer but now I am making khajiit. The night eye sounds like fun. When will you be in a dungeon and use the animal companion thing that the Bosmer has :\

well my Khajiit was a Vampire in Oblivion for awhile until i got bored of it, No Mods included, i was playing on the Xbox.
and i believe Tod said there is no restrictions from what race you choose, i'm pretty sure every race and get the disease Porphyric Hemophilia, although Argonians might resist it more from their Racial Ability.

Khajiit have a higher sneak bonus compared to Bosmer as seen http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Khajiit. However, Bosmer have a sneak bonus as well and has a higher Archery (As seen http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Bosmer). It all comes down to opinion since they are both good thieves. I would go for the khajiit though, since they have bonuses that fit my play style and have night-vision, which is what you would be needing most if your sneaking around.

I personally would go with the Wood Elves because they look a lot cooler. Both races benefit in the stealth area so you won't get a bad choice if you choose one over the other.

Wow, really? @#%& I went through that whole game thinking beastmen couldn't get the disease. It's odd though, I don't remember encountering Khajiit/Argonians that were vampires. Maybe it just wasn't as obvious as with the other races. Thanks guys, you've been a big help! :)

I have this same issues. However It comes down too 2x things.. Night Eye vs 50% poison/Disease Resist.

For A Assassin nighteye is grate for sneaking around .. however you will probly get A item with perm nighteye .. or maybe A perk from Vamp .. or something else.

I read their IS alot of Disease in skyrim (like morrowind) so .. 50% is big resist.

I think woodelf is by far the best choice ... after a few lvls the cats abilty will be replaced by Potions/scrolls/Items & maybe A spell it you have it .. cant replace 50% resist too 2x big issues!
