Hello, I just bought the Dawnguard dlc for Xbox 360 and I have been having some issues with it. The game itself runs fine, but the problem is that it's completely in german. You see, I have a swiss live account, so everything is divided into four languages (Italian, French, German and English). When I went to buy the content on the marketplace, there were four different options for it. There was:

Dawnguard (Italiano)
Dawnguard (Francais)
Dawnguard
Dawnguard (English)

Each of them cost 1600 microsoft points. I decided to buy the third option (the one without a language) because it was the only one that had an english description. Even the "Dawnguard (English)" option had a german description, which was quite misleading and was why I didn't purchase that version (which is most likely the correct one). Anyway, is there a way that I could acquire the english version without having to pay for the content again? Help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope I didn't waste 20$ on something I won't even be able to understand.

Long story short: I bought Dawnguard and it turned out to be a German version. I'm an english speaker and would like to be able to play it in english.

The best thing you can do is call MSoft, or check the market place and see if it registers that you have paid for all versions and delete the current and get the English.

I didn't buy "all versions". I just simply bought the only version that had an english description, and it turned out to be a german version. From what I see, the only way I would be able to get another version from the marketplace is if I pay for it... which is complete BS if you ask me. Thanks for your response though. I've already tried contacting Microsoft and Bethesda but I've got no luck yet.

Hi dude,
I also have a similar problem, but with the Spanish version of Dawnguard. I didn't notice any problem with the game up to now (already did a couple of quests) except that all the Dawnguard related dialog is in spanish but luckily the subtitles are in English.

So, my advice is switch on the subtitles and if you're lucky they will be in English for you as well and you will at least understand what's going on.

Finally, I noticed a funny side-effect, the guards besides being telepaths (when they confiscate your stolen goods, how do they know what's stolen!?) now are also somehow bilingual (english/spanish)

Cheers

PS I wouldn't bet on a refund or anything as Micro$oft is notorious for not doing that...

The subtitles do work, but everything else is in German. It's rather annoying in my opinion.

I'm not expecting a refund from microsoft. I just hope they'll at least let me download the english version without having to pay for the game again. If they don't, then this will probably be the last piece of DLC I'll ever be buying on the xbox.

I should have just waited for the GOTY edition.

When you say everything else do you also mean the menu, pause screens etc? In my case is only the voices so it's a minor nuisance (I also see it as a good way to practice my spanish).

About Micro$oft, please let me know what they will tell you. Most likely I won't ask them for the english version, but it'd be good to have my options open.

Everything that was in Skyrim before Dawnguard is still in English (menu's, weapons, etc.). But most things that came with dawnguard are not.

I'm in a que right now for a customer support chat with Microsoft (I have to wait about one hour :ermm:) . I'll tell you how it goes once I've finished speaking with them.

It turns out the Microsoft customer service is actually really great. They ended up letting me download the english version. Everything went better than expected.
