Bought for PS3- Should I also buy for PC?

Post » Mon Sep 10, 2012 9:56 pm

I originally bought the game back in 2011 for PS3 (mainly because I like using a controller for first-person games). But everyone I talk to who plays on PC loves using mods. I looked at a few in the Steam Workshop and I have to admit, it does look like fun to just mod the heck out of it. Console Commands also look fun to play around with.

So my question is: Would it be worth buying Skyrim a second time for PC so that I can play around with mods/console commands? (Not to mention Dawnguard, if it doesn't release for PS3)

If you reckon you've done everything you need / want / can do in "Skyrim" on console then by all means.

MODs are a great way of injecting life into a stale game.

Still hasn't gotten stale for me yet.

Yes, I recommend that you get Skyrim on PC, especially if you're coming from the PS3 version. I was in the same situation regarding Fallout 3 back in 2009. If Fo3 is any comparison, you'll be able to play for fun again. Loading times are shorter, the gameplay is better, and so much more.

As long as you don't go crazy with the console commands and mods (like using additem to give yourself the best armour, weapons, and thousands of gold while you're still in Helgen), your game will be fine.

Well your in luck because you can use a conroller on the PC. Most people use Xbox 360 controllers since those work well but you can also find basic looking PC controllers that will work just as good.

I would say it's worth it because I actually have a copy of Skyrim for both the Xbox and the PC. Mods will easily double or triple the amount of time you would normally put into the game. Considering the amount of time you can put into Skyrim, I have absolutely no problem buying two copies. All games are the same price as Skyrim but no game out there compares to it and gets you to easily put over 200 hours into it. Most game's consist of nothing but a campaign that will net you about 20 hours of gameplay. So yes, I would say it's worth it.

Mods can also fix many of the games "issues" that Bethesda may not get around to (ex. Unofficial Skyrim Patch), as well as the other mods that add extra fun stuff.

If you wanted to play with a controller on pc, just insert a xbox 360 controller and you're set. The game automatically recognizes it, and you get controller vibration as well. I'm not sure how effective other controllers are with the game.

The pc version also lets you take screenshots, if you'd like to record your adventure.

I'd only recommend it if you have a solid pc or a lot of money to throw around. Otherwise, it will end up costing a lot of money real fast. However, with a great pc, it will be a lot better than the console version.
