Boulder City Showdown - Khans are hostile

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:17 pm

I'm having issues trying to complete Boulder City Showdown with diplomacy. I've told Lieutenant Monroe that I'd like to talk to them, so it gives me the version of the quest to speak with Jessup.

When I enter the ruins, the Khans are immediately hostile to me, even though I have no fame/infamy with the group. I have Boone and ED-E as followers, but this happens regardless if they follow me into the ruins or I tell them to wait outside. If I don't sneak into the ruins, the NCR soldiers will immediately start a fight with the Khans. If I sneak into the Khan hideout, Jessup immediately starts shooting me.

What gives?

EDIT: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1122442-grimhounds-pc-bug-list-ever-growing/ lists neutral NPCs as sometimes being hostile to ED-E... I don't know if this is the cause or not.

Just a bump to add another question:

Does anyone know how to reset that specific quest? I know there is a console command for doing so, but I wouldn't know what the formID is for this. Perhaps that would solve it?

I did this quest (but reverted to an earlier save later) - but:

Spoiler
If you arrive at Boulder City you meet an NCR officer, he tells you about the situation, and then, in the dialog there are two lines, as far as I remember. One says 'I will negotiate with the Khans for the hostages (or similiar, cannot remember exactly), the other line says something like 'I will fight the Khans...'.
I think the reaction of the Khans depends how you selected in this dialog. Not very well done, but clear to me. If you announce to fight, they will be hostile, if you announce to negotiate they will be peaceful and can be spoken to.

I would have done that bit differently, but I thinks this is the solution to this problem.

Check what armour you are wearing. I started to approach and noticed Khans showed as red blip. I was wearing NCR armour. When I switched armour out to vault suit, the blips changed to yellow and I walked in and talked no problem.

Yeah, I am specifically asking to negotiate and they are still hostile.

I thought this may be the case, because I had a 1st Recon Hat on, but trying different things didn't work. I even tried donning the Legion armor and that didn't fool them.

A bump because I'm still having the issue. Has anyone else fixed random aggro problems?

I'd like to bump this as well, I've had the same problem as the original poster, naked with no companions. The Khans were hostile no matter what precautions I took, and I had no relation with that faction.

Furthermore, the Brotherhood of Steel is immediately hostile with me, no previous encounters, naked and no companions. I approach the intercom in Hidden Valley and say one of the passwords I've acquired and they respond with something like "Stay there, we'll send someone up to get you." A bunch of red dots show up on my compass, they open the door and annihilate me. I don't get it.

I have the same issue and have posted it in the Bug List thread. I had an issue with the NCRCF when i was getting the sheriff for Primm. I paid Dawes the caps to let me in and he goes hostile as soon as i get closer. If end the initial dialogue you enter with him he goes hostile if u get close to him. I figured it was because i was vilified with the powder gangers from before that was overriding it, but when i ran into the problem with the khans i was sure that it was a bug. Its annoying cuz i prefer not to kill them as i like the extra dialogue you get when you talk to npc's especially the Khans that "killed" you. Because of this i've nothing to do but explore the west, south, southwest areas of the wasteland. Some of whitch are dangerous. Beware the Deathclaws, Hardened Robots, and Feral Ghoul Reavers at low level. They hit too damn hard and can sense me from far away making it near impossible to sneak crit them.

Is there a console command or something to cheat pacify them? I honestly haven't been playing New Vegas until a workaround or bug fix is made.
