Bound bow build

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 11:50 pm

I'm interested in a bound bow build. I don't want to summon creatures to get to 50 Conjuration. But it seems dumb to summon a sword and level One-handed and then switch to a bow.

Why can't you get a bound bow earlier than 50?

Than 50 what? Are you saying you can't get the spell until your conjuration skill is 50 or that someone won't sell it to you until it's 50?

Pretty sure you can get the bound bow tome anytime you want. If i recall it is in an abandoned fort protected by mages.

To edit your post to hide that spoiler behind a spoiler tab. just type the word "spoiler" in brackets before the spoiler and the word "/spoiler" in brackets after the spoiler.

So when I see the bound bow has a skill level requirement of 50 Conjuration, is that only for buying the tome?

It means it's affected by the Adept Conjuration perk, but you can still cast it at any level as long as you have the Magicka to do so.

That is correct. 50 conjuration is what is needed to be able to take the relevant cost reduction perk and the availability of the spell books at vendors is also keyed to conjuration skill, but you can buy the spells before you are ready to take the perk. Bound bow will show up at mages guild vendors when your conjuration hits 40.

If you do want to get conjuration higher go find a mudcrab, summon a bound sword, walk away from the mudcrab so he doesn't pinch you, summon another bound sword... repeat till you are at 50. It is one of the easier skills to level, especially with 0 cost conjuration enchantments.

Yeah, I guess the Magicka required still makes it a no go at early levels. Which leaves me with my original dilemma.

The temptation to do that is one of things I don't care for in Oblivion and Skyrim.

Well I wouldn't recommend it if you want to build your character up from scratch. But if your goal is to have a character built for running around with a bound bow as quickly as possible then it is the simplest way to do it.

You can still use a regular bow until you get enough magick to cast the bound bow spell.
Another way to level your conjuration skill is to cast

I'm in a similar dilemma right now - my Arcane Archer wants to use a bound bow, but his Conjuration skill is in the 30s.

I've been summoning familiars to work the skill up. Then I plan on forgetting that I had to do all of that.

In the meantime, of course, you can work up your archery independently.

If you are an Altmer and you keep the novice hood from the tutorial and put all your points into magicka, you can cast it at fairly low level.

Bound Bow isn't too hard to get. Get it from:
Spoiler
Fort Amol

You can do this even at level 1. An Altmer would be the quickest way to be able to cast it at level 1, along with a Novice Hood that you get at the start. Another option is http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Elsweyr_Fondue. Happy hunting.

Train with bound sword then. It should be accessible early. Just run up to a horker, bound sword, shethe, repeat.

Or, you can just buy a bow, save up enough money to pay off a trainer, and then buy the Bound Bow Tome.

It's a long process, but at the very least it prolongs you're play time on Skyrim.

On a side note, when do bound arrows disappear when you miss and hit the ground? I've had this area plagued by them since I was missing these deer terribly at level 15 and 40 levels later the arrows are still there.
