Bound By Death - Not receiving bonus when killed during addr : V

I am in the Dark Brotherhood Bound By Death quest right now and have twice killed Victoria Vici while she was addressing the crowd and escaped without being caught, BUT both times I am told by Astrid that I didn't kill her while she was addressing the crowd and was stripped of my bonus which I care more about so that I can get the Olava bonus later.

Anyone know why I keeping getting screwed out of the bonus?

are you making sure she is on the balcony above when you kill her?

I'm behind her on the balcony and kill her with an arrow, then go invisible and when Veezara comes I jump off the balcony.

There is a chance you will not get the reward even when doing it right, best advice is to reload and keep doing it till you get it

climb up the steps that surround the wall, when she is on the balcony, wait for the second half of her lil rant, then you can either launch an arrow, or there is a loose gargoyle you can push on her noggin

um... get above the balcony, behind the gargoyle... duck and move tiny bits till your not noticed by anyone. wait for her to start addressing and push the gargoyle off the edge. It looks like a accident that way. remain ducked and head to the left, then take a left and when your behind the tower stand up and walk on down, the lizard guy will run up to you and say he'll cover your retreat and you can just casually walk out of town. If you kill her with any other method you wont get the bonus.

This will earn you the bonus.

you can shoot her with an arrow, thats what i did, the only stipulation is that she is killed during the speech

thats most likely where in the glitch lays, I tried i donno how many times to do it with a arrow from numerous locations all over the fort, just about every time I was caught. and Never once got the bonus using arrows. The first time I used the statue, I got the bonus. Done it this way every time sense, and have always gotten the bonus.

I killed her with an arrow, hiding in the most stupid location imaginable, and nobody ever saw me. I was ducking behind a decorative bush next to the door that faces the balcony directly, a couple of feet away from the bored little kid in the back. After the murder, Veezara showed up and I was able to casually walk out of Solitude with no problem.

But the gargoyle story you just told made me wish I did it that way instead, that sounds really cool.

Astrid sometimes doesn't give you the bonus reward even if you killed the target while she was on the balcony speaking. This may occur from using the loose gargoyle method and/or assassinating her at night.

As per what you need to do for the quest, bonus is not limited to just one way of eliminating the target just that it has to happen at a certain point

There are many ways to kill her. If you take the door to the north-west of the temple entrance, you will end up on ledge just above. On the ledge are six arrows, an http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Elixir_of_True_Shot and a unique magical bow, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Firiniel%27s_End. You can simply shoot the bride dead from this spot instantly. She is easily killed with a single sneak attack from the magic bow you are given. It is best to use these freebies now to be sure the bride is dead on the spot. If you have a low http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Archery skill then you should definitely use these.
Alternatively, for the bonus reward, you can wait for Vittoria to begin speaking. She will stand from the seats with her husband, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Asgeir_Snow-Shod, and enter a door in the portcullis to reach the balcony, where she will begin speaking to the audience. Assassinate her while she speaks to earn the bonus reward.
One way to kill her is to get to the wall above the balcony, and push a loose Gargoyle statue when Vittoria makes her address. To get to this balcony, go into the temple. Go up the stairs to the right, and through the door. Using an invisibility potion/power just after activating the statue or firing the arrow can allow you to avoid the bounty.

yeah i've even hopped down with a character and looted her body then ran into the church and escaped through there. Sometimes in doing this i've been caught, sometimes I haven't, seems to be a 50-50 to if it triggers a bounty or not when you hop down on to the balcony. I've killed her from the balcony itself without getting a bounty hiding behind her husband... still the same though no bonus, not once did i get a bonus using arrows. I kept replaying and replaying till I tried the gargoyle and was able to get the bonus, the gargoyle hasn't failed me once. I've used him night and day to kill her, so my best bet is, when using other methods of killing her (sword / dagger / wand / magic / arrows) people are getting a split second 'seen' while doing it, or a script isn't properly firing off when using alternate methods.

Well, all I can say is that I did get the bonus. And I just used a bow and arrow.

unless the script has an added restriction that what the game tells us, there should be no difference for the bonus for being seen and not (least not one I can vaguely remember). I remember I got chased by this woman out of solitude, waited till we were far out to kill her lol
