Bound weapon questions

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 5:29 am

Hi all, bound weapon questions here from a noob. Keeping it brief since I'm posting via phone.

How effective are they?

Damage of sword seems to be 15 / 23 damage before / after Conjuration perk, but it doesn't seem to go up with related combat perks? As in points in 1H damage don't incease the displayed damage. Is this a display bug or is it really not effected by combat perks.

Does anyone use bound weapons as a pure Mage?

They are wonderful this time around.
I swung a bound sword out on a Giant and the Giant flew across the entire game when I slashed his chest.
Keep in mind that bound weapons are daedric ghost weapons.
Some of the best, but they are spells and won't last forever.
Unless of course you re-cast the thing. =D

I just wish they had bound weapons for each type. I'm using maces exclusively and would love to have a Bound Mace spell.

I am not sure what the stats are on the bound sword, but when I found that spell, that is what I am using in one hand, swapping out other spells for the left hand. The bound sword was noticeably more effective than the other swords I had been trying. I like the spell cast for it too, the ball of purple and then the little hand flourish and then the purple-y smoky blade. I had a guard in Winterhold actually say something like "Ooooh, nice colors!" :) I only just hit level 13 though, so I don't know how the blade scales. (And having found several very nice staves that I... uhm... acquired :whistling: I may be swapping out weapons now :D

What does Daedric ghost weapon mean in game terms?

If I'm using Bound Sword a lot will it benefit to put points into 1h? I put a point into Armsman for a damage boost but I didn't see an increase of damage on the listed stats. Does anyone know if 1h perks help?

For 1H perks, I would recommend them.
I am currently working my way up that tree.
There is a decapitation perk that goes along with it.

Daedric Ghost weapons are powerful overall, but It is magic.
They serve no purpose other than hacking away should you find yourself without a weapon.
Don't get me wrong, the spells are cool and all, but since weapons and armor no longer degrades...
I can't see them being used for any specific purpose other then killing ethereal-like enemies.
Which by the way, there aren't many of those enemies out there.
None that I could find anyway.

maybe i'm missing something but i'm playing on the PS3, where do i see the damage output on my bound sword. I don't see it in any kind of menu, and conjuration is a major skill of mine so i like to make sure i'm using something strong. does this increase 1-H also?

It does increase your 1h level, and I believe you can find the attack rating in the magic effects menu.
At least... I think that's where it is.

I remember vaguely that my 1-H skill increased while whacking away with a bound sword. Anyways you could always try it out for yourself :D conjure an atronach and whack away.

Yes, using Bound weapons increases their respective weapon skill. I don't know if they're affected by weapon perks, though.

My nord warrior is dualwielding bound swords at the moment. They are stronger than any other swords currently (only taking base damage and not enchants or smithing into account). They raise my one handed skill as well as use my one handed perks. Decapitating someone with two bound swords is awesome.
