Do bounties go away?

Just wondering if the townsfolk will forget and/or forgive the murderous rampage....and if so, how long must I wait?

Nope, you will have to pay it off or go to jail or simply DIE by their hands but when you reload it will still be there.

It is worth noting however, that if you do go to jail, some of your skills will decrease.
