Bow and Arrow and/or Crossbow.

I for one would love to see bow and arrows in FNV, that would be awsome.

The http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Dart_gun in F3 is essentially a poison dart firing novelty crossbow. Made from various bits of junk, it's really effective at long range, slows targets down and enough hits will kill anything.

Given the number of times the desire for a crossbow has come up I'm surprised no one has modded it into one or at least ported it over to NV.

My idea is that its not classified by bow but by arrow and Skill.

Poisoned arrow tip: Survival.
Explosives arrow tip: Explosives.
Normal arrow tip: melee.
(same goes for crossbow arrows)

Why not place it under the survival skill? It's primarily a hunting weapon and it would make the skill more useful outside of hardcoe mode. It wouldn't be too hard to implement either. All the animations and whatnot exist; they were in oblivion (bows, not crossbows. I don't know how all that would work.) and they use the same basic game engine. I personally don't care too much about using them but it would be nice to see tribal enemies with them.

I know :( but it would be greate to role play robin hood with it .Steal from the rich give to the poor and decapitate a deathclaw with a bow and arrow :) .

Forget robin hood..

you have a Map Full of Cowboys... I think it only Fair I can Shoot them like an Indian

think if it as Sitting Bulls Revenge :P

its due to the Morpher that Oblivion used to do Its Bows was taken out of the engine. theres no way to make it animate correctly. and theres no Draw animation for the Player Character

I want a crossbow and a tommygun.. Seems like a good combination for some reason.. A crossbow attached to a tommy gun seems like even a better combination. Grenade launching crossbow on a tommy gun. Now my brains just getting silly.

Don't like the idea of a bow and arrow..

Crossbow on the other hand.. *Drools* As long as we get multiple tip types.

Would certainly make the poisons a little more relevant.

Just think of the damage a bow and arrow could do with, a Strength of 10!
Amputation? :woot:

I was thinking about this earlier today, and I asked myself: "What skill would a bow and arrow realate too?"
I honestly can't think of one.

Sneak. you could upgrade the ninja perk to, so you could shoot 3 arrows at once.

Maybe at the crossbow but yes for bows along with arrows being poisonable(sp?)

Starting a tribal playthrough recently I was disappointed with all the options surrounding khans and oter FO throwbacks like Vipers.

Of coarse this also extends to weaponry. I have my doubts but bows should be introduced with Honest Hearts.

The question is why Bethesda didn't with 3, although since they had the job of reintroducing the franchise(Which is why they threw in plots from 1 and 2 and mashed the major factions from them)

I can't fully blame them.

Anyways yes to bows. Maybe to crossbows.

Just put it in melee(Throwing spears and knives are considered such)

Be nice to have but not sure they would take the time to experiment with the animations.

maybe one day.

Because bows, arrows, and medieval settings were all invented by the fantasy genre.

/sarcasm.

making a bow and arrows was actually my 1st thought when I 1st started playing Fallout 3.

It just makes sense. i mean it doesn't have to be a wooden Bow either. you could make the bow from a metal leaf spring off one of the cars.
from a survival stand point its the 2nd Weapon I would make. 1st being a spear.

actually it's more cuse it has nothing to do with FO it self, could be fun to see a crossbow or a bow in FO sure, is it something usefull douth it it would be something of a novelty like that BB gun

A Bow and arrow is far more deadly than a bb gun.

How many hunters take down deer with bows vs bb guns? I'm positive you'd be hard pressed to take down a Rabbit let alone anything larger with a bb gun.

I know its abit of a week long necro but i missed the last post :P

How? Bows/Crossbows would be an ideal weapon in a post-apocolyptic world where guns and ammo are scarce.

That would be awesome if Bethesda managed to implement the Bow And Arrow and the Crossbow in the Honest Hearts DLC. Now, If It was me who designed both of them, I would first give the Bow And Arrow to the player if their gear gets stolen. Second, the Bow would operate like a Heavy Incinerator -- flies far depending on potential energy input and angle, and that It'll fly in an arc. However It'll not fly as far as the Crossbow. Thirdly, the Arrow as ammunition will be abundant in Utah or Zion or whatever. Fourthly, the arrows can be coated with a variety of poisons to boost its firepower. Even a special flame agent or a stick of dynamite (or any other explosives) can be coated on the tip for some destructive fun! And Lastly, the Bow and Arrow will be determined by the Guns and the Survival skills. Also, the arrows will be able to stick on anything, regardless of the armor used. Note however that arrows will fall from their sticky state after a very short time. The Bow and Arrow will also be operable to the tribesmen at Zion/Utah, including all mods (applies if hardcoe Mode is on).

Crossbows operate pretty much the same way as Bow and Arrows, but their trajectory and velocity is far larger than it. And its arrows are special and are called Cross-arrows. These arrows are almost half the size of regular arrows and will not be able to attach some explosives onto it. But any other mods can be used. Crossbows won't be found until around 60% of the DLC. Also, the Crossbow's effectiveness is determined by the Guns and Survival skills, and its requirements are Guns 50 and Strength at least 5.

Agility most likely, the dart gun in 3 fell into "guns" and it was basicly a small crossbow. would love for the "invented" weapons to return too!
