is there any info about if bows will have some sort of range, that if you are too far from the target it won't even shoot? or is there bullet drop effects on arrows? how will long range shooting work?

would be awesome if it was based on player skill where you would not know if you were too far away or not. Only through use and instinct too know if you are not too far away, there will probably be some mechanic put in where it wont let you shoot unless you are close enough.
from the quakecon video it seems to have a certain range and no drop
Yeah it's not true aiming which svcks (but at least its not as bad as most MMOs) and there will likely be an artificially enforced range. There's also no ammo which really makes archery no different than staff-casting in its functionality, which makes sense from a balance perspective, but has definitely made me personally disinterested in archery in this game.
you have to understand that if they made it true aiming and the rest, no one would use it at all and it would not be viable in anyway.
Unless they balanced it with higher damage output. "Risk vs. Reward" balancing is still balancing. And having seen other MMOs that have true aiming on their archery, archery actually ends up becoming the most played weapon type. Because it is the most interesting, challenging and fun.
what MMORPG has that, no MMORPG that was EVER decently successful had true aiming.
Both Darkfall and Mortal have decently successful true aiming (for melee, magic and archery). Both are MMORPGs.
i just find it weird that long range weapons are not actually long range weapons.
