Boyle mission... timer?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 6:14 am

I'm on the Lady Boyle mission, and after talking to everybody downstairs and then taking my sweet time reading and stealing everything upstairs, I sneak down again... and everybody goes on alert when I appear.

I tried rejoining the party multiple ways... by possessing a rat and using the ducts, by going out to the balcony and reentering through the front door, and by blinking down out of site and strolling into the hall. Each time, even when they didn't see me come down, the guests went on alert when I entered the hall.

Did I stay away too long? or is there a bug? Do not really want to load a much earlier save... and I DO want to seduce lady Boyle and deliver her to her lover, if possible!

It might be a bug. This happened to me too. When it happened to me, I wrote it off that it was because I signed the guest ledger, which I did early on. I guessed that after some time they read it and then are alerted to your presence. But maybe I'm giving the game too much credit, it's probably just a bug.

Did you alert the guards at one point and then load an old save? I think it was after that that I noticed it in my game, maybe that's what causes it.

Oooh I did sign the guest ledger. Was wondering what the result of that would be ;)

Not sure if I alerted and reloaded, might have :)

Thanks for the input! Anybody have more definite information about the ledger? :o

I signed the ledger too and then went about taking my sweet-ash time with the party,
pickpocketing everyone, stealing everything not nailed down and drinking /eating
everything along the way, and nothing ever triggered.

Might be a glitch for you.... or you accidentally triggered something without realizing it?

I signed the ledger too and took my sweet time, just mingled and basically did the same as Sylthia.

I'm actually disappointed that singing the ledger yields no reaction whatsoever. To my knowledge it isn't ever brought up. I guess its a self satisfactory thing, like saying "I'm right under your nose, and you can't catch me."

Yeah, after I was done with Miss Boyle (non-lethal, stealth) I left using the front door, signing the guest book on my way. Like a boss.

I didn,t sign the ledger at all and nothing triggered when i'm leisurely helping myself stealing stuffs. The mission went smoothly, the only person i killed is Lord Shaw.

If you made any noise while you were upstairs, that probably caused the alert, and also maybe if anybody is missing because of Corvo's shenanigans.

I've been through this mission several times. The last time, I silently killed one guard and ashed his body. No problems in the party. Went upstairs, accidentally Blinked into something breakable, heard the alert sound and when I went back downstairs (stealthily) everybody was hostile and freaking out.

I've signed the ledger but the only impact was the mention of my doing so later in the game, in a letter.

Nope, it does. Make sure to read everything in Dunwall Tower when you're after the Lord Regent. It's not anything big, but it was definitely noticed.

Spoil it for me too! Its way to easy to take out Burros on a low chaos playthrough, you just blink/double jump to a chandelier then Blink to his balcony and bam end of the mission. So I never actually gave him time to talk, and I never spent more than 10 minutes in the tower till my fourth playthrough when he went to his safe house.

There's a paper on the lord regent's desk that talks about boyle atleast in the non lethal play through and they mention that someone signed corvo to the ledger at the party.

Yup, in a letter on the Lord Regent's desk,
Spoiler
there is mention of Lady Boyle disappearing. If you went for the non-lethal option, the letter goes on saying that witnesses claimed catching glimpse of a boat leaving from the sewers, although they can't use that clue.
In a second paragrah, the writer bring to the attention of the Lord Regent that someone signed the guest ledger using the name "Corvo Attano". They think it's more than probably a very bad joke, but since the Lord Regent asked to be notified of every things that could be related to Corvo after he escaped from the prison, they felt they should report that incident.

Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to pay more attention next time I go to Dunwall Tower.

Thanks Wol :) Awesome for them to have included this detail in a future mission.
