I got all the way to the final room in Kilkreath Temple for the Break of Dawn, but whenever Meridia is SUPPOSED to lower me back to the ground after our conversation, I just die on impact.
This has happened about twenty times so far; I have tried running towards the coastline, running towards the river, not moving at all, skipping through the conversation and positioning myself over the shrine base which is supposed to negate the fall damage (it doesn't), saving on the way down, etc. and nothing at all has worked.
I'm told that pressing START to bring up the pause menu is supposed to help. It didn't. All it achieved was twenty wasted minutes before I judged that it had been long enough.
Others have suggested opening the items menu. Nice idea... if it was accessible when falling.
And then I discovered that the door through which I entered the chamber was locked when I gave up in disgust and tried to leave.
Now, I KNOW that this quest is completable because I have another character who has successfully completed it and now has Dawnbreaker somewhere in her house, but seriously, Bethesda? I could have tolerated the loss of Dawnbreaker on this character if I could have left the frakking dungeon but now I'm locked in and the only way out invariably ends with me splattered over the northern mountain ranges of Hjaalmarch.
Guess I can kiss this character goodbye then.
You know, I LOVE The Elder Scrolls. Picked up Oblivion before Skyrim came out, never finished it because the friggin' main quest glitched around when I was trying to translate the Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes, but really it should be common practice to make sure to either fix ALL the bugs BEFORE releasing new DLC (Hearthfire being a perfect example of how glitchy the sodding thing can be, my game now locks up if I walk into Windstad Manor even one point overencumbered) or release a patch FOR the bugs WITH the DLC. Glitches and bugs are commonly amusing in some circumstances (though Shadowmere vanishing off the face of Nirn was rather annoying until I got hold of the Summon Arvak spell), but when it's something game breaking like this...
Something to think about Bethesda. Rather than trying to top Dragonborn for best DLC yet (which I think will be kinda difficult, given the new ability to RIDE DRAGONS), kindly spend a while going through your entire game and fixing it.
