Breaking Bad [Yes This Is TESO Related]

Post » Mon Sep 30, 2013 1:05 pm

With the season finally of breaking bad coming up, it really struck me that Breaking Bad really is one of the best Dramas on television. It has a great unique story that is compelling and revolutionary. Makes you feel the characters emotions and has you worried about the characters involved. a story so well plotted it's almost sad that it has to come to an end. My question is this: Will TESO have a great story arch? one that is compelling and unique in its own perspective? character development and a well driven plot? A game is only as good as its story, yes they are created for fun, but a game of this scale needs a story. Yes i am aware that this is more so about our own characters we create and cherish, but what i am getting at is the story. something we can all care about. I really hope Bethesda and ZOS really raise the bar with TESO. Am i the only one that cares this much about a games story? nonetheless i had one thing to ask: Can one of you well informed users elaborate on the story so far, or what we already know? please no spoilers. thank you.

How do you give away a story without spoilers? So if I were explaining Skyrim to you, would I do my best with or without telling you that there are dragons? That feeling of there being dragons might have ruined your first fight with a dragon had you known months in advance prior to buying it. I don't think we know of any spoilers other than the beginning perhaps, and I don't really consider the opening a spoiler. Anyways, I'll put what I'm going to write in spoiler tags, I don't think it's as an important giveaway as dragons appearing but, this is how the story starts out and the plot behind it:

Spoiler
Your soul is stolen right off the bat, if you consider that a spoiler, then there's pretty much nothing we can tell you behind the story without it being a spoiler.

Spoiler
More precisely, your soul is stolen by Molag Bal, and you find yourself in Coldharbor (Molag Bal's plane of oblivion). This serves as both the tutorial, and the beginning of the story. After you escape yadayada you get to roam the world for yourself.

Aside from that, I suppose you could say the plot is that three alliances are warring against each other in part to prevent Molag Bal's influence on Tamriel. Molag Bal uses things called "dark anchors" that kind of act like gates of oblivion, only he's pulling parts of Tamriel into Coldharbor in an attempt to control Tamriel. So back to the alliance war, there are three factions, Aldmeri Dominion, Daggerfall Covenant, and Ebonheart Pack. A player picks one of these factions at the beginning, and the story from what we know continues on a path whereyou're helping your alliance get stronger and have superiority over the other two alliances so you control Cyrodiil and can stop Molag Bal. We don't really know how this is all tied together, only that it is. If you want to add another twist, there's a NPC faction you can't join that represents Cyrodiil, which is the Imperials being controlled by Manimarco, which I think he's under orders from Molag Bal (you know.. the whole dead thing correlation)

That's all I know, someone else can probably fill you in better.

i think he meant more of the "how the story is told and what's the quality of the telling" instead of "what is the story".

Ah, by "elaborate on the story" it could be taken several ways, if what was meant was how they're going to tell the story, then I missed the point. Does anyone actually know how to answer that though? Seems like something you can only figure out by waiting until release.
