Breezehome items scattered on the floor

So I was bored one day and decided I would completely redecorate my home in Whiterun. One hour later, the top floor of my house is done, and I realize I need just one more thing to make it perfect. After a short trip to Belethors I return home and almost have a jammer right then and there. EVERYTHING is on the ground. All the perfectly placed colorful ingot stacks, all the meticulously organized potion displays, even the neat stacks of books in the corners or on the tables. It literally looks like a tornado hit the place.

"Honor to you, my Thane"

Lydias head rolls down the stairs.

So thinking it was just Lydia, who does god knows what when I'm out, I set everything up AGAIN. This time, however, I'm much happier with the result and I go downstairs to plan on how I want to decorate it. Well for starters, I think, my larder looks a little empty so I'll need some more meat. Freshly cut and straight from the wild, no less. So I jog across the street to the Drunken Huntsman and step back inside. I walk over to my kitchen table and start removing plates and platters to make room for my venison chops and ribs, when I hear that oh so familiar potion clattering noise.

Deep breath. In. Out. In. Out.

I glance over to the shelf where I placed Lydias head atop a silver plate. Can't be her. I walk up the stairs, fearing the worse.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Please Bethesda, oh I beg of you PLEASE fix this glitch. I was having so much fun setting up my home and when I finished the satisfaction I felt was unparalled to anything else I had felt while playing the game.

Are there any ways to fix this?

Yes.

Drop all the items you want to use as decorations on the floor. Leave the house. Come back in the house and decorate by picking up the items but not putting them into your inventory. They'll stay where you put them this way.

It's truth my friend. I decorate the hell out of Proudspire Manor and this is definitely the way to do it.
