Brelas... Eisa... Orthorn... Where Art Thou?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 6:12 am

I'm happy with how my potential final character turned out, but I'm a little bit disheartened that these three NPCs - from "Diplomatic Immunity", "The Pale Lady" and "Hitting the Books" vanished from the game. In each instance, you rescue them, and then they run off into the wilderness. Are they always supposed to vanish? I've read that Orthorn just keeps running around like an idiot, but Brelas could appear in Windhelm and Eisa could appear somewhere as well - I've read that people have seen her in both Morthal and Markarth. I fast traveled away after I saved them, so they shouldn't have died. Malborn showed up in Windhelm just fine and he was running right alongside Brelas.

So, how many of you have successfully kept these NPCs alive and present? I know it doesn't really matter, but I've never been happy to have characters die or otherwise vanish unless I want them to.

I stalked Eisa and she went to the inn in morthal. Ive never followed Brelas and Malborn. Nor Orthorn, I always send him on his way when I rescue him and finish the quest myself. Im allways too busy to deviate from the quest. But I always save who I can unless they got sick loot! lol

I always assumed fast traveling away would save them, though. They can't die unless you're there to see it, right? I mean, in the same cell? But then again, that didn't save that ghoul in Fallout 3's "You Gotta Shoot 'Em In The Head". After Broken Steel, dude never came back from his journey to get the armor no matter how long I waited. Hmm...

Edit: Oh, turns out that Broken Steel thing was a glitch. All this time I've been thinking he died, but he just never went anywhere.

Brelas can be found in Rageed Flagoon Cistern after DI, of course only if you're member of TG.

Do you save
Spoiler
Margret in Markarth?
Unless they are pre-set to die, no one dies without you having a chance to save them. Ancient Dragon attacks are a blank though.

Marget can be rescued, if you kill the "killer" she will survive, and the related quest will change.

I just wish people I saved were a little more grateful.

That's the other guy. You can only save Brelas if the idiot thane from Solitude yells at her, causing her to get locked up in the dungeons as well. She then runs away along with the others.

Yes. I also saved the girl during Blood on the Ice.

Well, she did ask me to tell him to stop. I told him to stop. He didn't handle rejection very well. But as I've said, you can free her. It's just that some people say she shows up in Windhelm, but she's never shown up in Windhelm for me.

I've saved Margret who eventually tells you she is going to make her way back to Cyrodiil.

After Diplomatic Immunity Malborn heads for Morrowind, but gets stuck in Windhelm until you do an extra quest for him. After that he literally runs into Morrowind where you cannot follow him.
Etienne Rarnis heads to the Thieves guild if you save him.

Deep-In-His-Cups will head to an inn (and disappear) if you persuade him to accept 750 gold instead of the 10 000. But if you give him the 10 000 he says he's going home to Blackmarsh, and runs to the border.

Hells, I even managed to save Larina, after a lot of frantic jumping. But she is meant to get sacrificed, and if you save her she just stands in her cell not knowing what to do.

Brelas heads for Windhelm and Orthorn goes to Winterhold. Both are then subsequently disabled (i.e. removed from the game) so you won't find them again.

This made me so mad. I really hate scripted deaths! :flamethrower:
