I can't store or even sell the item. I don't know why the item is considered as a quest item but I just want it out of my inventory.

There's a quest called 'Repairing the Phial', as in the 'White Phial' from that apothecarys apprentice. He wants you to get him three items, one of them is a Briar Heart. I am on this quest but unable to finish it because I can't loot the Briar Heart from the assigned questmob (he's dead in that Forsworn-camp) but he hasn't got any heart on him that's lootable.

Currently I'm walking around with like 8x Briar Heart, can't sell or store it because it "counts as the questitem" but since it wasn't correctly looted from assigned questmob, I "haven't got the right one", so basically is just massive bugging.

Got quite a few quests that are bugged.

Briar hearts are also Alchemy ingredients. Try using them to make a potion

Wow, that explains it. So technically it's not a bug? The quest is not even active. I mean, sure it was when I got the mail from the courier but went deacitivate it. But then again, it happened right off the bat once the quest started after I got the message. I'm stuck with this Briar Heart until I finish the quest. That's great.

Yeah...about that...You can't. You can never complete the quest, because you got the heart before you got assigned to collect it. When you try to turn it in, the NPC won't recognise it. You'll get send to another Briar Heart but when you take it the quest doesn't update. You will be stuck with this quest for ever or until a patch comes....

Yeah, put it in your napsack next to your pipe and drum and lute and Lisbet's Dibella Statue and that 20 pound Elder Scroll. If many more Quests bug out on me I'm not going to be able to carry anything.

have you tried giving the elder scroll to the orc in the library at winterhold college?

the others except dibella I also have the same issue with, once cleared down some misc quests i'll see if I can ditch them.

update:

1. Just done the lute after having it for 100+hours and completed all questlines except the bards in between, simply went to inge six fingers and she took the lute from me.

You can eat the hearts. Didn't try make a potion with them. But u can def eat them.
