Brink Ability Preview, Day 8: Control Turret

Control Turret allows you to take remote First Person control of friendly turrets. To initiate remote control, first place the device on the turret, and then interact with it from a distance.

yup. there u go. and one question you all might know.. if u take over a enemy turret, does that make it friendly? and you can do the Control Turret? just wondering.

That is an interesting ability. But do the engy and the opp both get exp or is it solely the opp.

This is a strange ability. I guess it would be good to have a person keeping their eyes out for enemies but it seems like it takes an Operative out of the field in order to take command of a turret which fights and operates on its own.

Still, it does have its uses. My only question is does the Operative get xp for shots hit, does the engineer, or do they split them?

And what if an Operative greifs the Engineer by taking control of his turret and never releasing control?

Well, hacking a turret turns it friendly, so I imagine that that would indeed work. You just have to turn the enemy turret friendly first. :disguise:

EDIT: Don't get me wrong Jason. Operative is the class I intend to use the least. Engineer>Soldier>Medic>Operative.

I don't always play Operative, but when I do...I prefer taking manual control of turrets.

I was under the impression, from previous interviews and videos, that control turret was *only* used on enemy turrets; using them on friendly turrets really defeats the purpose.

I remember even in one of the newer videos that shows an operative hacking a hostile turret to turn it on them. Perhaps that's the subtle difference between "Control Turret" and "Hack Turret" -- guess we wait and see.

Personally, I'd rather they only be able to hack hostile ones; give the engineer a way to control his turret if he needs to prioritize targets. Don't take the operative out of the fight to do it for the engineer.

Ooooh. Now that could have its uses.

Engy leaves his turret behind him and his friends unguarded. You have yourself a shooting gallery set up. This ability has me intrigued...

Indeed. One of the turrets' biggest weaknesses is its slow reaction speed and limited tracking capabilities. With someone taking manual control that turret is now several times more deadly than before.

Not really useless. Think. If a turret is placed in the front field of view......opp places device....moveable behind enemy....from cover goes first person to see the enemy placement kills them or sees the all clear before making his move.

Think of it as a sort of spy cam with ammunition.

I would worry about XP guys. Soldiers get XP for handing out ammo, and other players get XP for putting that ammo into enemies. Both parties get their fair share of the reward. I strongly assume it works the same way with the Engineer putting down the turret and the Operative taking the wheel, so to speak.

I would guess that a hacked enemy turret would be considered "friendly". Therefore, hack, then remotely control. But to do this it takes not one ability, but two.

this, im sure you'll get the xp for the kills or it'll be split (the engineer should get more) :whistling:

It is also useful for an operative since ammunition is very limited. If they are by themselves fighting, hacking an enemy turret conserves their ammunition, gets an enemy turret off of the field, and gets a big distraction for your team.

My only concern is taking a teammate's turret and how xp are divided up.

Since i know i will be playing as an engineerin 90% of the time, i knew i had to worry about enemy operatives stealing my turret. But i know i have to worry about friendlies stealing it too... man am i starting to hate operatives. that plus their disguise ability which doesnt deactivate even when you are literally aiming at them.

i take that back, i already hate operatives.

i think operatives wont be too hard to spot, cuz im sure you cant buff there guns/health/ammo so if you see some one you cant do so to its an operative :)

also if you was runing toward them they would most likely think you found em out and the urge to shoot would prob be too much, giving them away

How far can you be while still operating it? It says a distance, but a distance is not the whole map. I guess you could place the device on a turret, find a spot along the route to the turret and watch for enemies to run by. When they do turn on the turret control and while they think they have some time before the turret AI locks on to them, BAM, plug a few holes into the unsuspecting enemy.
