I've completed the quest "A Chance Arrangement"
1. Meet Brynjolf during daytime.
2. Steal Madesi's Ring
3. Plant Madesi's Ring
4. Speak to Brynjolf

1. Locate Brynjolf at the Ragged Flagon

Brynjolf won't leave his stall. Period. The people are still crowded around him like something is going to happen. I don't know if he exposes Brand-Shei or not, because nobody does a thing but stand and wait. The ring isn't in Brand-Shei's inventory when i pickpocket him or kill him, but obviously it had to have been there for me to complete "A Chance Agreement."

I've tried many things to trigger Brynjolf into actually meeting me at the Ragged Flagon, including attacking him, but nothing happens. I don't know for sure, but I may have planted the ring before Brand-Shei sat down on the crates, which the trigger may depend on.

I'm really annoyed that i can't start the thieves guild quest line, as it was my favorite in TES IV: Oblivion.
