Hey all,
I undertook the quest to find the missing Laser Pistol from the Brotherhood quartermaster. I talked to Stanton and looked all up and down the southeastern valley, including checking all around the bodies of the two prospectors, and I can't find zilch. Can anyone tell me where it is? Thanks!

Not to derail, but uh, where did you find the BoS bunker? D:

Hidden Valley; it's hidden in one of the bunkers there. Hidden Valley is pretty much directly east of Goodsprings.

I brought Veronica with me, she gets you in no problems.

If you go to Hidden Valley and then head north through the valley towards Black Mountain, there's two dead Brotherhood Paladins in an irradiated crater with 2 suits of T-51b you can loot; I got T-51b 20 minutes into the game because of this.

I had trouble finding the missing Laser Pistol too. I found it on top of the rocks at the center of the lowest point in Scorpion Gulch. There's a dead body on the ground near the rocks.

If you get the password from the dead BoS soldiers, you can get into the bunker by using the intercom.

I HAVE the SOLUTION!!!

You have to first get the tip that the laser is in Scorpion Gulch. Before that time it is not there.

Talk to the Brotherhood Quartermaster again after you agree to look for the pistol.
She will suggest talking to the firing range officer (has no name) about who last had the laser pistol.
He will say that Initiate Stanton was the last person to check it out but he turned it back in.
Talk to Initiate Stanton and confront him.
He will confess and tell you about Scorpion Gulch and where he lost it by a body.

ONLY THEN does it show up.

Where the heck is scorpion gulch? Ive done all that, but I COMPLETELY forgot what that buffoon said.

Just go to outside of the bunker and then head southeastish towards the closest "unfound location" tic on your compass. It's right by the bunker, and it's a marked location on the map, fast travel point and everything.

Be advised, there are a LOT of giant radscorpions there sometimes, so be prepared to grab the pistol and GTFO. As said, it's on a rock in the lowest point of the valley.

Go to Hidden Valley. On the south fence line is two gaps. The SE one leads to the Centaurs. The SW one leads to Scorpion Gulch.

But you have to talk to Initiate Stanton and get him to tell you where he lost it.

The pistol does not show up until you do.


And the Scorpions are fierce.

Don't go there unless you have some big weapons or lots of AP ammo.
Bought the Anti-materiel rifle just to take out the big ones.

Was worth every cap.

So I have been having problems with this too. I am right in the correct area over-looking the big pit with the dead paladins in it which is surrounded by centaurs. I found the skeleton and I can't find the pistol anywhere. I have talked to stanton totally and even talked to the girl he was out shooting with. Any more clues on where it is? Maybe I just have a bugged quest and it isn't showing up.

Do you have Scorpion Gulch in your map? Can you fast-travel there?

If No:
If you're standing at the pit with the dead paladins on the bottom, head up the hill (right hand side) past the pit, and stay to the right.. you'll run into a bunch of scorpions and you'll find Scorpion Gulch.. theres a big rock in the middle of a big round open area.. the pistol is basically on the rock..

If yes:
You basically fast travel in on top of the pistol.. you land on the rock.. and the pistol is on the rock..

Not working. Quartermaster has only two text options, buy from her, or goodbye. There is no range officer, I've waited days, just three guys all firing at the targets and none of which have any dialogue options.

I stole a key before going in Hidden Valley, and Veronica glitched, staying at the intercom saying, "zero zero zero zero..." I ended up going in and blowing it, but when I came out and the whole place was rubble she was still going at it.

Like I said, those text options aren't available for me. In any event, I've been trying this for literally days of real time, so I just console spawned the gun. Not gonna let a bug make me waste hours of what should have been correct effort.

You are at the wrong location.

Think it allready probably been said but in order to get the Laser pistol to spawn you have to do all the talking inside the bunker: first quarter master (who wants the gun found) then just turn around and wait, or if there allready is a paladin ( with no special name just a regular brotherhood person) sitting at the table next to the firing range, talk to him and he will guide you to stanton. Make stanton confess and he will tell you where he lost the gun.
Next go outside to scorpion gulch, just follow the trail off live scorpions and you will find the gulch hehe =).... there is alot of them and big ones to so watch out...eventually you will come to a big open space with slopes down to a point with some boulders and the gun is lying ontop of them......i had a big scorp spawning when i picked up the gun so be prepared...

Leave the bunker, come back, repeat until the range officer shows up. Whether you need to wait an hour or day or three, I'm not sure matters. I think his AI script gets stuck somewhere in the geometry, or he's falling through the floor.

I spent approx an hour quartering the area and at one time even stood over it while looking around the area.

The color of the gun is almost the same as the rock so it is hard to see unless you are near it.

And one more time Dweller - Thank You.

I typically find Scorpion Gulch travelling from Novac to the Hidden Valley. Good to take Boone or Veronica with you for some serious AP pwn-age. When you Fast Travel to the previously discovered Gulch, you spawn right next to the pistol.

I had problems with the quest originally as well you actually HAVE to follow the quest perfectly or the pistol will NOT spawn.
1. Talk to the quarter master who wants the pistol found
2. Turn around and walk to the paladin sitting at the table who will mention that initiate stanton was the last to use the pistol
3. Go to initiate stanton who is in the nearby classroom who will mention he dropped the pistol in the nearby "gulch" which happens to be full of scorptions
4. Fast travel to scorpion gulch and you will land right next to a rock
5. THAT rock has the pistol perched on top of it.

Note: be careful when spawning into scorpion gulch. Sometimes up to 3 GIANT radscorpions will spawn in the area at any given time so go in prepared.
Also refrain from using any explosive weapon of any sort. This includes energy weapons if you have the Meltdown perk as well. This is because the explosions can result in the pistol flying somewhere random or glitching into the rock which will leave you screwed.
