brotherhood of steel and Omertas for Yes Man

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:33 am

Hi all,

I'm currently checking out the five gangs that Yes Man has told me to check out. I'm not sure how I can find out more about the Omertas without completing their quests (which I don't want to do because of the infamy).
Also, I have done everything I can at the moment with the Brotherhood of Steel and just fixed their vents. Once I did that the Elder only, seeminlgy permanently, says I need time to... etc. I then went to Hardin and gave him the evidence against the current Elder. But now the Elder just says he needs time to prepare for the trial. What do I need to do to get the information for Yes Man?

Thanks.

Help Cachino for the omertas and you wont get infamy. If you leave the BOS bunker and come back 48-72 hours later you can speak to the elders again.

Damn I killed Cachino for some reason. Is there another way?

Also, it's been way past 72 hours and they still say the same thing.

If Cachino's dead, hes dead. It only works if you have left the bunker. Otherwise, im not sure.

Just tell Yes man to leave them alone...

My only interaction with the Omertas was taking all there caps at black jack, and it let me have that option... Don't think I ever actually talked to anyone.

I think I read somewhere that glitches it. You have to side with one or the other before fixing the vents, because the quest is done and then you went and did another component of a completed quest, so now the quest won't move forward and neither will the Elder's speech.

There is an other way to find out more about the Ommertas.

Spoiler.

There is an escort girl back in the courtyard called Joana. Talk to her and find out she is not happy. She wants to escape this live and be with here love. She is not sure her love is still alive. You will need to find out. You can find him hiding in Vault 21. Via him and Joana you can find out more about the Omertas.

There is a bug that causes Hardin and the Elder to not allow you to progress any further if you side with Hardin. I waited an in game month and they were still preparing for the trial and would not talk to me. The only way to fix it is to load a previous save before doing the final turn in and side with the Elder. I lost about 10 hours of real life game time due to this bug. It is one of the many broken quests in the game.

If you do McNamara's quest and then still try to get him replaced, there's a bug. You're only supposed to be able to do one of the two.

I only spoke to Hardin once. It was a forced conversation. I gave him the I'll see what I can find out answer and now I can't even turn in the parts for the vent. Neither lorenzo or the elder give me any option to turn the parts in. I'm guessing that you have to turn down Hardin from the very begining. I think I may just try and blow up the bunker. The BOS story line is very screwed up.

I haven't had any problems with the BOS questline although I always side with Hardin and never finish the 2nd part of McNamara quest.

You can use the "I'll see" line with Hardin with no ill-effects, but if you fix the vents and then talk to Hardin about replacing McNamara (which means you have already done the optional stuff to find out how) before you accept the last quest from McNamara, you glitch both NPCs into an error state; as a result, neither of them will offer the dialogue for the appropriate next step which means that Hardin will not move to take out McNamara nor will the latter ever offer the last quest for initiation into the BoS.

In order to get the last quest from McNamara you need to not talk to Hardin after fixing the air filters, then leave the bunker completely (i.e. exit to the Mojave Wasteland) and go back inside. This will enable the dialogue from McNamara in which he offers initiation into the BoS even though you have not given him the 'couple of days' supposedly required to wait to get it.

Fixing the vents means you side with McNamara by default; the glitch occurs when you attempt to get Hardin to throw him out, since at that point you aren't still supposed to have that option. Since you talk to Senior Knight Lorenzo about the vents prior to reporting to McNamara, there's a window where you have an opportunity you aren't supposed to to still turn on him by talking to Hardin and this is what causes things to glitch out as the quest script does not actually lock the latter option out until you talk to McNamara after telling Lorenzo about fixing the vents.
