I have hearthfire ive had it for about 2months almost own 2 fully furnished completed houses and i have 2 children yet i have not been able to get 1 pet ive tried to bring bran and meeko in my house but the kids just look at them and walk off ive heard its random but ive tried over 100times arriving at my house nothing from my kids no gifts they have both got daggers at legendary status the only random thing ive been told that there is rats in basemant done dead but that was a month ago... nothing changed only one has a allowance cos only one asked...help?

The child has to bring an animal home and ask you if it can be a pet.

Be careful, as some of their choices are not something I would want to live with.

There are creature followers, some of which can be pets, but I don't think the children have anything to do with getting them, you have to go through the normal quest stages for that.
