I have a bug (that appears to be pretty rare judging by other forum posts) that stops me from progressing into the world. After the quest Before the Storm starts I am unable to proceed any further. When I proceed down the path from the cave, after a short distance I find myself facing what appears to be a line after which only blurry graphics exist. When I try to go out into it I get a message that says that I can't go that way, and my character proceeds to fall slowly into the ground. Sometimes moving or jumping will bring me back up out of the ground, but I am unable to move my character again. I can fast-travel at that point, but since the only place on my map that I have visited is the stronghold, all it does is give me another chance to explore and run into the 'end of the world' as I call it. It appears to be in all directions that I've found, and I have a very small world in which to explore.

I've 4 different characters, and for all of them, this happens. I've gone with both guides through the dungeon. One thing about them is that they say that we should split up, and then they just stand there. This doesn't seem quite proper to me, as when I tried looking up walkthroughs (to see if I am not going the right way, which I am) they appear to start walking down the path. I can talk to them fine and ask them a bunch of questions, but they never move. I've tried not talking to them after we got out, and they continue to stand there. Resting makes them no longer be there, but doesn't help with the world problem.

I'm going to try reinstalling, although why that would make a difference is beyond me.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

What you are describing doesn't sound rare, there are Youtube videos of it and I've read other cases on here. That's just who's being vocal. I assume you are having the same problems I was with not being able to get into Whiterun or Bleak Falls Barrow not appearing? Uninstall the game and patch data, and then reinstall them. Note: Delete game data files not your saved game! You should be able to pick up from your last saved.

That's not really the same error. The one you showed is more of the world being partially loaded. For me, I can't even walk out into the world. By doing so, I fall into the ground. There is a clear line beyond which everything is pixelated, as though I am looking at it from far away, and if I cross that line, my character can no longer move (but fast travel works). This prevents me from even being able to leave the area surrounding the initial fortress and cave. The only thing I've found of interest in the area is a small bandit camp.

Thanks though, I'll try to reinstall as mentioned, and hopefully will be able to load one of my saves, as I am sick of playing through the starting area over and over.

I fixed it by removing the game data including the patch (but not my save data) from the PS3's hard drive, and then reinstalling from scratch. I have no idea why that would solve anything, but it evidently did, because my world now loads fine, and I can explore wherever I want.

Hopefully this will be useful for someone else.
