Bug with Dragon Souls

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 1:57 pm

At the point in the main quest, during the quest At the Summit of Apocrypha, it is required to spend a dragon soul to learn the next part of the Bend Will shout. I have 0 dragon souls. So, I figure I'll just hop on over to Skyrim, go to a previously cleared dragon roost and get the soul I need from a re-spawned dragon. I kill the dragon, the soul absorption trigger does not engage. The dragon just sits there, dead on the ground with its full skin intact. So, I go to another roost. Same thing happens. I personally suspect it has something to do with the programming where Miraak interferes with your absorption of dragon souls previously in the quest line not clearing properly. Anyone else encounter this? If so, anyone have a fix for it?

Nvm, I found that's it related to one of the patches, that's why I hadn't encountered it before.

If you have already cleared a particular dragon lair by killing the dragon and kill another one at the same lair after it respawns, you cannot absorb the soul the second time. The developers claim that this is by design.

I had the same thing happen.

Later, I could learn the shout even though I'd not killed another dragon.

I could learn it when I was no longer in that Apochryphahaha (sp) area thing.

Oh, guess I misread. I DID have dragon souls. It was telling me I did not there,
but later I could indeed unlock them. I must have OOODLES of dragon souls, in fact.

This is by intention however strangely 'sometimes' when going to a dragon lair and riding the dragon, should it die I WILL be able to absorb its soul.
