Building my first gaming PC

Post » Thu Jun 17, 2010 4:46 pm

Hey I am planning on building my first gaming PC this summer for about $1000 and any advice will be greatly appreciated! I'll include a link to a list of all the parts that I plan on ordering so I can get some feedback. My goal is to be able to run BF3 on high when it comes out. Thanks very much and any constructive input is greatly appreciated :)

i got dual hd5750's, runs crysis at extreme settings (crossfire sux on crysis, renaming crysis2.exe to a different game gets me really good frame rates, 40 at the weakest moments, 60+ most of the time)

get a good monitor n speakers, most important, grafix card looks good (make sure when ur pc gets old you'll have room to crossfire), also get a mouse with lotsa buttons, u can just get a lame cheap keyboard, card readers can REALLY come in handy sometimes, and gamepads are fun to use.

ur case looks easy to use but it may get hot since it only has 3 small fans and it's only a mid tower, and it doesnt really have that WOW factor, try this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811103033 full tower, same red color and looks absolutely BEAST. i would also suggest u get a dvd burner (you never know) for only 4 bucks more than ur current drive.

other than that it looks great, so i hope this helps :D

I already have a set of creative 5.1 surround sound speakers and I have a tritton AX 720 headset so I am good for the audio. I have good mice too, and a good keyboard from back when I was serious into PC gaming. As for the case it is actually made to have really good airflow so cooling is the least of my worries (2 of the fans are 200mm... I wouldn't consider those small). I wish I could still use my old DVD burner, unfortuantly it is IDE not SATA so I am kinda screwed there. I have room in my MB to do SLI, and the card I am buying is SLI ready, so I feel it is a futureproof design.

A card reader is a must down the road for me, as I am an avid photographer, and it us much faster than loading them off a USB from my camera. Thanks for the advice btw.
