Are you planning on becoming a Vampire Lord or just staying a regular vampire?

I definitely think you should become good with Conjuration no matter what type of vampire you are. You always see vamps with their Thralls and under the school of Conjuration you can summon deceased bodies as yourDead Thrall.

I'ma be a lord. Not sure how often I'll use it though. Conjuration does seem good. Race is a big point of contention for me. As is six. And Stone. And pretty much everything concerning the character.

There are some really great, and useful, spells under Conjuration. Early on you can get a spell to summon a weak dead body for 60 seconds. It's not as great as the Dead Thrall spell you'll be able to get at a higher conjuration level but it's defnitely useful. And I could see a vampire dabbling in some necromancy.

For your race I would probably choose an Altmer or a Breton since they're naturally gifted when it comes to magic.

I would stick with the Illusion class. Sneak could be helpful to you as well. Since you're going to be a Vampire Lord I'm not sure if you'll need to be well versed with the one-handed ability. However, if you're planning to use weapons while not in VL form you could use it.

By the way, I've never actually created a vampire build for myself so this is mostly speculation and ideas.

My only concern with this character is inability to survive if discovered. I suppose VL is good for that.

Bonuses are better for Breton, so I'm going Breton for sure. There's still concerns here, though. How do I place my level ups? How quickly can I get vampirized?

Race: Argonian

Class: Spellsword Necromancer

Stone: Apprentice

Majors: One-Handed. Destruction, Alteration

Minors: Conjuration, Enchanting, Alchemy

Note that I am using the Belua Sanguinare vampire mod, which pretty much revolutionizes vampires. Makes em less of "sneaky blood mage" and more a... well, it kinda lets you do a bit of everything.

Pure mage works really well but I wish I knew about the Atronoch conjuration glitch beforehand.

This reminds me, you'll probably want to use the Ritual Stone. It gives you the ability to resurrect any nearby corpses to fight for you for about 60 seconds. Although the ability can only be used once a day, it's great to have it if you're into Conjuration and necromancy.

The Ritual Stone can be found east of Whiterun.

Race Breton
Skills Illusion, Restoration, Alteration, Conjuration, One Handed Sword, Destruction

a good ranged mage that can go into melee if needed that way you use all the Vampire perks :D and the restoration will help when your caught in the sunlight regaining health and stamina is a big help xD

Dark elf, more resistant to flames

High sneak, focused with one handed and some archery.

While a vampire you get a sneak bonus, with sneak you become pretty much invisible. I shoot arrows at peoples heads point blank in front of them and they still can't find me.

The idea with this character was to become a VL, but no DG for PS3 yet...

You might want to consider getting necromage. Both because it benefits you as a vampire and because it'll benefit any spells you cast on your undead minions to buff them...or if you use healing spells on them now that there's spells for healing undead. Particularly useful if you want to keep a specific thrall around.

Since being a vampire boosts your illusion magic as well even if you're discovered you shouldn't have any problems stopping enemies from coming after you with calm or fear spells. Frenzy can make enough chaos for you to go unnoticed especially once you get silent casting. Very early in the game illusionists are vulnerable...but once you've got a few perks you're pretty much unstoppable....as long as you've got magicka. Just find something to spam a spell on to train it quickly. It's one of the easiest spell schools to train and as long as you've got magicka not much can do anything to you.
