Burnout

I remember back in the early days after I got a PS2 I would always play Burnout and then Burnout 2. My all time favorite out of the series would probably have to go to the one that I put the most time in: Burnout 3: Takedown.

A few years go by without me playing Burnout and then Burnout Paradise comes out, making me remember why I loved the series so much. I haven't played it in a few years because I don't actually own the game anymore.

One of the reason that I liked the series was the utter insanity of Crash Mode, probably my favorite part of the game. In what other game aside from Burnout is the entire objective to cause as much automotive carnage possible to everything including yourself?

Recently I stumbled across Burnout on TVTropes which has made me somewhat nostalgic. So, anyone else here have fond memories of trying to smash into as many tanker trucks as possible?

Never played this but I played a game which sounds similar on the PS2, called Crash & Burn. Lots of fun :D

I have Burnout Paradise. Along with NFS: Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit one of my favourite racing games :D I like the Road Rage mode and the one where you have to keep flipping your car and hitting others to collect bonuses. Stunts are also cool but I don't seem to do too well in the races as I end up crashing before I get the goal points, or I cant find the best stunt areas :D

Speaking of NFS: Hot Pursuit I have the PS3 version and a steering wheel to go with it. Not a bad game but it can really boil your blood fast. There's three things I hate about it are.
1: The camera always zooms to a waiting police car, a racer or cop hitting spike strips or getting hit with an EMP and you can never really take out your rivals. I hate this zoom out camera thing cause it takes you out of the race and when it's constently doing it---it's gets really old really fast.
2: The other racers seem to be faster then you even though you're driving the same car as they are.
3: Your nitros charges at snails pace and doesn't work well with auto shift. Sometimes when you're trying to get back into the race and you hit the nitros, your car will actually stall instead of shifting in order to get your speed up.
All in all it's still a fun game I just wish the Hot Pursuit part of it could be you VS the cops---I love that.

I loved the burnout series. The racing and the crash modes were really fun.

Yeah, I loved the mode where you would just get as much speed as you can and see how much damage you can cause at a given intersection, :D

I can't remember what system I player it on, though... I'm actully thinking PS1, but I'm not sure...

Crash Mode was awesome in the first few games. I didn't like how Paradise integrated it into the main game; I never found that I was able to cause as much destruction as the independent modes in earlier games. Paradise was a great game in its own respect, though.

In my opinion Burnout: Revenge was the apex of the crash mode, seeing as it was half the game

I've never been much into racing games, but I've given an occasional tempted glance over at Burnout: Takedown. I may cave and get it for my PS2 sometime. I own Black, another Criterion game, and they definitely knew how to push the system and make awesome destructive effects.

The first game in the series came out back in 2001. That's eleven years ago. Wow. Time sure seems to fly. I can still remember playing it on my PS2.

This is the only series of racing games I actually like! Mostly because it's the only racing game that encourages you to do the funnest thing in these kind of games; drive recklessly and crash!

Don′t forget burnout revenge and burnout dominator, i know they where not as good as burnout 3 but the are still lots of fun.
I especially remember those speed dominator race′s in burnout dominator, the speed got so insane you couldn't′t even blink anymore.
They where also some of the best looking game′s of last generation, only beaten by black witch was also from Criterion.
Now i am having a major nostalgia trip to the last obsolete days of the ps2: ps3 was already out but sony was convincing people that the ps2 still matterd, so we got games like medal of honor vanguard. burnout dominator, black, call of duty world at war and the psp ratchet and clack ports and ratchet gladiator. If you still own a ps2 i recomend picking these game up, there like $5 a game now.

I played Burnout: Paradise for a bit on the 360 but wasn't that impressed. All I used to do was crash into things at high speed, which was fun for a bit, but soon got old. I was never that interested in actually racing.

Does anybody have Burnout Paradise on the PC? I'm wondering if anybody is active on it anymore.
