But i don't wanna be a wizard

Ok so im doing the MQ, and i have reached the point in which i need an elder scroll, im told by that greybeard dude that i could perhaps find it at the College of Winterhold. However i am roleplaying that my character does not know how and can't use magic. So why would she join a college based on magic when she can't use magic? Also by using magic to enter the College to get the scroll, i would be breaking character.

Is there another way to get the Elder Scrolls without breaking character?

If you're allowing yourself to use Shouts, you can use one of those to get in. You don't have to do any of the quests associated with the College; once you get in, just refuse the tour and go straight to the library.

Or, if you don't want to deal with the College at all, go due north of there to a cave labeled Septimus Signus's Outpost and talk to the guy there.

This. I just told the girl I was dragonborn, and performed a shout for her. I then just by-passed all the mages and what not and beelined for the library.

It might break the immursion for going to the cave directly. Unless your character had already been there (maybe picked up the quest from the argonian on the Riften docks) your character wouldn't know to go directly to the cave.

Guards will still see you as a College member, though.

You could always stand a follower in front of the locked gate and run into them so they walk into the gate and open it for you. As far as I can tell, this causes no problems as long as you don't try to ruin things (like killing people); if you want to legitimately join later, you'll have to take Faralda's test.
