Calming werewolf and vampire concerns.

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 2:18 am

I've seen a lot of anxiety over the mechanics of vampire and werewolf gameplay. I understand these concerns, as I myself didn't like exactly how vampires worked in Oblivion, and much prefer the though of forced transformations in relation to the moon for werewolves. As a matter of fact, I didn't like vampire mechanics so much in Oblivion that I changed them.. with mod tools! The biggest problem I ran into was with some bugs with the graphics for face changing - the changes themselves were pretty easy to implement.

Assuming the graphic kinks have been worked out for vampires (the quality of graphics I've seen so far hopefully attests to this) and assuming werewolves are already in and have awesome art and animation (and they do, I've seen the leaks  ) then we are already past the hard part!

Mods should really be able to tweak things to customize for each individual's needs. So cheer up! ;)

I hate it when people keep talking about mods. Some of us play on consoles.

Like me. Also hoping console molding is allowed this game.

Works for you and me, but that doesn't help console folks.

An even for those on PC, some of us have no modding skills to speak of, why is it the TES games that are the only games that people think a good answer to a problem is "mod it" when every other game its, "tell the devs you don't like an aspect so they know and may change it next time."

I'm just glad bethesda pays attention to mods.

I've heard vampires look fine. Not ugly, but obviously not "normal". I.e you would probably gasp if you saw someone like it. Not throw up like you would if they were Oblivion vampires

TES games are better than other games because they do allow the answer of "mod it" to something you wanted different.

Don't like it? Don't buy it for console. You pick your weaknesses when you pick your system. On consoles, that's no mod support.

"Who's that then?"
"I dunno. Must be a Dovahkiin."
"Why?"
"He hasn't got **** all over him."

"All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Imperials ever done for us?"
"Brought peace?"
"Oh peace - shut up!"

If its JUST red eyes but no wrinkles AT ALL then Im fine with that cosmetic change. Red eyes can be beautiful. Although I dont mean red in the white part of the eye, I mean your eyes being red instead of blue or brown. (Sorry English Is a third language, I dont know the anatomy terminology).

In short, I hope its limited to beautiful red eyes.

Not to mention that mods aren't a free pass into the entire game code. Some game mechanics will be nigh untouchable by modding tools.
Additionally, its not like all these great mods are going to be churning out on day 1. The best mods I know of for Morrowind took years to come out.

What about those with no computer. I use mobile Internet. Don't have computer to play Skyrim on. And any word on mod support for consoles.

I hate it when people keep talking about mods. Some of us play on consoles.

And PC players hate it when some features are removed because of console limitations, so it goes both ways. And no one is to blame, except the companies responsable for allowing this huge gap to exist between gaming platforms, effectively dividing costumers instead of uniting them. If they had designed consoles to be upgradable somehow, we'd all be celebrating together instead of flaming each other in countless threads. They're also the ones imposing the 'No mods policy' for consoles, because I'm sure Bethesda would love to offer all their fans the same advantadges.

As for people who are claiming they're not skilled enough to mod, don't worry. Most players aren't. In a couple months from now there will be literally thousands of mods made by other players to customize your gameplay to your heart's will. No scripting knowledge required.

I've found that the only way to not be frustrated with the current state of the gaming industry is to own both, PC and Xbox, which I do. Otherwise I'd be pretty mad at one side or the other.

Oh, well that's a perfectly valid reason. I still don't think they'll allow you to do it..

Ah, truly didn't think about console fans. Sorry.
I suppose there are still a few advantages to being one of the last PC players.

To Valamyr.

You did better than a large number of native English speakers I know. As for the white part of the eye, the common term is simply the "whites of the eyes" or somesuch thing and the proper term is sclera. The other part that you mentioned afterwards is the iris. An I believe the iris will turn red and the sclera will remain normal as it did in oblivion. I too hope we dont inexplicably age 30 to 40 years upon contracting a disease that supposedly makes us immortal.

EDIT: Argh... My iphone is being stupid

I'm a dedicated PC player, and I have to say, you're kinda missing the point. I'm sure there will be mods to improve these things, but core design is still important. It's still depressing when the design philosophy is moving in such a repugnant direction.
