SP campaign crashes when going to meet Gould.

Post » Tue Aug 17, 2010 12:42 am

I'm playing the SP campaign, the game runs fine up to the point when I have to go meet Dr Gould, then it always crashes at the same point. It is the point when you kill a few aliens (and few human enemies) in the sewer and collect the 100 point things from the aliens. Then when you reach the end of the sewer you turn right into a small room and the screen goes bluish like the nanosuit lost all power. Then there's a cutscene and when the cutscene ends the game crashes and I am back at the desktop.

I tried loading from earlier saves, it always plays fine until that point after the cutscene.

I have a GTS 250 card with 267.24 drivers

I downloaded the game from the ea downloader and have it patched also.

Anyone know how to fix this?

thanks

I'm Having the exact same Crash at exactly that spot! i have the GTX570 with latest drivers too. not sure if it's a crysis or nvidia thing though. On the original crysis i remember nvidia coming out with an emergency driver just for the game. I haven't seen anyone with an ati having this issue yet. Guess we'll have to wait and see who's going to fix this! :)

- Windows 7 64bit
- Intel I7 870
- 4GB RAM
- Radeon HD 5870

I've encountered a couple bouts where the game would crash in the same locations for several times in a row. It first occured where you're first told to activate your nano armor's shields (Q). Right after doing so, a soldier is scripted to gun an explosive canister nearby. I crashed quite a few times right as he shot the canister. Eventually, I got past that, and got to the part where you come to cross a catwalk and a spaceship crashes into it. Again I started crashing there.

Each time I crashed seemed to occur right as a large explosion occured. My computer just shut off and rebooted.

In addition to these bugs, I cannot log into multiplayer despite using my gamesas name (which obviously works, I'm posting on it now).

And melee stops working if I die.

Weird part is.... I'm on PS3.

^^ I didn't even know PS3s could crash

I tried the game again with a GTX 560 Ti and 266.66 drivers, it still crashes at the same place.

I made a video to show exactly where it is, at the end of the video there's a cutscene that plays, I hit escape at the cutscene and it crashes. I have tried watching the whole cutscene, it still crashes. I killed all the aliens and humans in the sewer before recording the video so that I could show the location quicker.

Devs please look into this, I haven't been able to log into MP once yet and now I can't play the campaign either. I uninstalled the first installation and re-downloaded to see it any corrupt files may have been causing it, but it's still the same. I bought the game from d2d, the first installation was from the D2D zip file and the 2nd one was from the EA download manager (using the D2D registration code).

Here's my computer specs

windows 7 64 bit
i5 750 @ 2.67 Ghz
4GB RAM
5200 rpm HDD, this is quite a slow hard disk, usually it takes a long time to load levels, but games have never crashed like this before
MSI GTS 250(267.24 drivers) / MSI GTX 560 Ti(266.66 drivers) - both cards crash at the same point

Monsker, you documented it perfectly.
Did you play from the start again (new save file) when you reinstalled?

Not all the way from the beginning of the campaign. I went to the second last autosave. I will try starting from the beginning again later tonight.

Mine seems to crash whenever a massive explosion happens.
My FPS drops, gets a tad unresponsive, and gives me a 'Memory Allocation Failed' message and kicks me back to desktop.

Running an ATI Radeon HD 5700.
with Intel i5 750 @ 2.67Ghz, wouldn't expect to be having these kind of problems :/

Quite a few people are having the same issue on the Xbox 360 - http://www.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=11067&hilit=crash
I'm either going to restart the chapter, or see if the next level is available to launch instead of selecting Resume.

I started playing again from the beginning of the 2nd chapter and I was able to get past that point now. I suggest trying to replay the chapter from the beginning instead of trying to load from an autosave if this is happening for others.

I also changed the difficulty from recruit to soldier, don't know if that made any difference.

I did the replay chapter option, and was able to get past the crash point. Game is working great once again.

Hi. I had much crashs too. But I found out, when you did the graphic lower for this scence. Can you play it. At the end I found out that my Computer was to hot. After cooling, I had a long time, no more crashes.
Computer Information:
CPU: Phenom x4 965 (4 x 3,4 Ghz)
Grapic Card: ATI Radeon HD 4870 Series

My PC isn't overheating or pulling too much power. The crash was always at the exact same loading screen for the next level.

i7 2600K @ 4.4Ghz with Arctic Cooling heatsink
750w Corsair TX PSU
Antec 600 case with tons of cooling
Dual GTX460 1GB with modest overclock

I play every other high demand game w/o issues. This game just needs a few patches, like every new PC game. Anyone remember Fallout New Vegas?

Just the workaround of manually loading the chapter instead of resuming the campaign.
