Co-Op Campaigns

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 3:01 pm

It would seem evident that Bethesda is not interested in creating Skyrim to be a MMORPG. But my question is there a way that you all can put out Co-Op campaigns in which users can play together via Xbox Live. This would be truly epic. A way for strong users to create a band of characters to conquer a campaign together. Even if you put out the expansion campaigns on separate discs, I know of several users that would buy them for sure. That way we can play together. I think you could probably put out Co-Op campaigns, have our chars data able to be uploaded.. Like say you put out a Co-Op campaign for Thieves, or maybe for mixed party (Wizards,Warrior,Thief,Healer) in which everyone would have their own role to play in accomplishing the goal. The possibilities could be endless, and it wouldn't have to be a huge WOW type RPG.. We would simply buy the Co-Op Campaign.. finish it plunder and split the spoils, and buy the next one that comes out. Just an idea.. I mean Skyrim is great dont get me wrong, one of the best titles I have ever played..but in the age of Multi-Player, I would hope there is something in the works to manage online party gaming.

So your saying they should make like Really long dungeons with phat loots that we can plunder with our friends, Like a raid in WOW?
I agree and think it would be a nice feature without taking away the single player expierence.

Yes thats exactly what I mean. I think that would be soooooooo fn cool. I have people on my friends list and we play together all the time.. just basically chatting and gaming. But if there were Co-Op campaigns that would be so much better even if we had to buy them.. Wouldnt be any different than buying expansions for COD or Battlefield.. And it would just be like continuations.. new weapons, new armor, you could take back to your 1 player experience and vice versa.. Lotsa possibility here, and like I said I know for a fact they would sell off the shelves.

As long you only can play with friends, and it is not public. I remember bad times in Diablo 2 online...always these high level characters who kill normal playing people and steal their gold..... :whistling:

Imagine how buggy multiplayer would be. The graphics would be lowered and there probably would not be a lot of items in an area. Mass Effect 3 is doing a multi-player thing. You main character is not involved, but what you do in multiplayer affects what happens to your main character. It is one way for lower level characters to get nice items or lots of coin. That is how I exploited Borderlands.

Lol.

Look, theres literally hundreds of titles where you can play co-op / multiplayer. If you want to go raiding with your friends, thats nice, but go do that in one of those games.

No multiplayer on TES, thank you. I want to keep at least this series as a single player experience.

ME 3 will have co-op, enjoy.

BTW.. all the posts about keeping skyrim 1 player is ridiculous.. it would still be 1 player for all those stuck in god mode.. but there should be an option for sure to plunder dungeons and quests with your friends.. I don't understand the hate.. Its not changing the game.. its just giving ppl who like gaming together an option to buy a Co-Op campaign and Bethesda make some coin.. whats so wrong with that?

Because there are thousands of multiplayer games. Not too many single player games. You want co-op online with your friends. Go play Army of Two or COD or one of the other thousands of titles. Leave this one alone. If your pining for co-op so bad clearly TES, FO is not for you and you need to go back to playing CoD.

i don't even want co op specific missions. just let me replace a follower with a friend. i don't need more than one other person either. the largest obstacles would be how quests would be marked as done, who could initiate quests, how gear transfer works when joining a game, and what happens if someone dies. no specially created content needed. just give me skyrim as it is, but with a friend.

I'd rather have the Dwemer as I playable race and TES set in the future with pew-pew lazerz than any sort of online play.

My boyfriend and I lament the lack of good co-ops to play together. He and I had a lot of fun playing Hunted: TDF, but the entire time were wishing there was a whole world we could go exploring together. No MMO, or elaborate online group combat crap. Just a Skyrim-type experience that we could share together.

I don't know if it's true that the graphics and such would suffer for it or not. But it sure would be fun for us if they could figure it out one day.

Wow you flamers are ridiculous.. how many ways can I explain that if you want to keep it 1 player then fine.. What is wrong with having that Co-Op campaign option open for those who want to BUY it.. If you don't then fine keep playing the game how you want.. You think that keeping this awesome game 1 player is helping sales? I know the game sold well.. but don't sit there and tell me that a business doesn't want a piece of the multiplayer pie. If they can put together a world as vast as Skyrim.. they can certainly put together a Campaign on a seperate disc without glitchyness. For raids. I don't want it to turn into WOW just sayin this is the age of Multiplayer.. face it.

It would change the game. It would take away time and effort that could be better spent creating SP content.

Besides, if you want Co-op there are plenty of games that have it. Go play them.

Because anytime a multiplayer component is added, the single player game sees drastic changes. Look at many of the modern games that have both. The single player portion of the game is usually little more than a tutorial designed to lead you into the real game.

The changes that would have to be made are HUGE. Convincing yourself that "oh this wouldn't hurt anybody" is very shortsighted.

I dont see what would be so bad about it. Maybe only limit it to yourself and one other player with you, otherwise it WOULD just be a WoW raid. The difficulty would have to be tweaked to allow co-op, and maybe you couldnt have a follower if you had another real person with you?

Either way, it would be optional. All you people saying "OMFG NO!1!" can just ignore it and have your traditional TES experience.

I know Fable is lame, but maybe the co-op could be slightly similar. The Host is the main character, the Guest is the sidekick with stats/appearance imported from their character file.

The sad thing is that you are probably right, at some point TES will become a multiplayer...

But, what you dont see is that to make this co-op campaign, Bethesda will have to spend time and money. Time and money that would be better spent on improving the single player experience. I dont want multiplayer, I want more and better content.
