So my husband is a little more behind in the game than I am, and he completed the Campfire quest by making healing powder with xander root and broc flower. However he did it slightly differently and now in the pip boy it shows that the one and only objective of the quest has been completed, but the quest itself is still open and will not complete giving him the EXP.

The problem here is he didn't do this quest THROUGH Sunny Smiles, he ended her tutorial after the killing of the geckos. As a result after speaking to her again he could not resume the tutorial, the dialog options were not there. I told him nevermind that maybe he can still do it, or at least I can show him where to go to get the plants and make the powder. So I sent him both behind the schoolhouse and up to the graveyard and the plants were not there!

So we just kind of shrugged and said "oh well I guess you missed out on that quest no biggie". I said well, I'm sure you can still use the campfire, it's not like the quest would stop that. Which was right - he found the 2 ingredients for healing powder somewhere else, went to the campfire to make it. After he made it text appeared across the screen indicating that he just gained the quest "By A Campfire on the trail". The objective telling you to collect the ingredients and make the powder showed up, and then checked itself off because he had just done it.

So again, the quest didn't end. It's still active although completed and he can't get the EXP.

Anyone else have this happen?

Have him go talk with Trudy at the Saloon (the next step in that quest) to see if that does anything....

I've had this problem as well except under different circumstances. I chose not to do the healing powder campfire quest and went back to the saloon and did the next quest and finished up at goodsprings. However as soon as I used a campfire to make healing powder this quest popped up and stays uncompleted and now Sunny Smiles is following me and auto greeting me all the time.

I've got the same problem from when I made the healing powder. Before that I did everything the quest told me to do, besides some quick exploring.
After making the healing powder I get a quest completed message And sammy auto talks with me saying nothing about this quest, only small talk. Tried luring her back to the saloon, but as soon as i enter the saloon she gets reset at the campfire.

Also Trudy the barkeeper at the saloon is nowhere to be found inthere, looked in every house and nearby locations and nothing. Are these vital quests that im missing out on? And is there a fix besides starting a new game? Im lvl 16 by now and found great weapons so dont really want to start over.
