Ok this is the conversation this far:
Simon: Hi, my name is Simon. How may I help you?
Matthew Beale: Hi, I have just recived Crysis 2 but I can't activate it due to the NAT at my university, I was wondering if there is any work around?
Simon: Yes
Matthew Beale: What is it?
Simon: But the problem is with the unlock code with the game.
Matthew Beale: The Serial Number?
Simon: The promotional code with the game.
Matthew Beale: I think I forgot to put the dashes in but I have already activated that
Simon: Then are you facing the problem in activating the game code?
Matthew Beale: Yes
Simon: Okay
Simon: Could you please let me know the exact error you are receiving in game?
Matthew Beale: It's not in game, it is on the activation screen. The error is "Connection failed. Please check your internet connection" As you can see the connection is working but I think the NAT won't let the game through
Simon: I would suggest that you try running the game using admin access. For this right click on your game’s shortcut available on your desktop and chose the “Run as Administrator” option.
Matthew Beale: I still get the same error.
Simon: Is the error message in the game or website?
Matthew Beale: In the Activation Manager, when launching the game.
Simon: With which account you are logging in game?
Matthew Beale: I haven't got that far!
Simon: Okay
Simon: Is the internet blocked in your college?
Matthew Beale: There is a quite strict NAT which blocks some connections.
Simon: Then I would suggest you try at to do it at your home.
Matthew Beale: I would but that is 4 hours away...
Simon: You can do it at your home and if have any problem then contact us again.
Matthew Beale: So there is no way I could activate it here?
Simon: Nope
Matthew Beale: Can I just ask what port it uses to activate?
Simon: please wait
Matthew Beale: Ok
Simon: The normal internet connection is required with normal ports only
Matthew Beale: Which ports though? As the university blocks some of them, however I may be able to get an exemption and see if it works then?
Simon: Yes
Matthew Beale: Which port though?
Simon: no specific ports .
Simon: normal Internet connection.
Matthew Beale: Surely it must do. Otherwise it would just use a random port each time surely?
Simon: TCP outgoing
* 80
* 18390
* 18395
* 13505
UDP outgoing
* 18395
Simon: You can trybthem.
Matthew Beale: Thank you.
Matthew Beale: Will it work always work after even on this connection?
Simon: Yes, it should work.
Matthew Beale: So it doesn't check afterwards?
Simon: You can check it later also.
Matthew Beale: If it doesn't work then what? I would be left with a game that doesn't work.
Simon: If not then feel free to contact us again.
Matthew Beale: What would I be entitled to if it doesn;' work?
Matthew Beale: doesn't* sorry
Simon: May I have the code please so that I can check it
Matthew Beale: The serial number?
Simon: yes
Matthew Beale: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Simon: The code is fine and it will work.
Matthew Beale: Ok. Thank you.
I think you should really move away from EA Crytek... That has taken me over an hour to get anywhere near half a solution...
