i can't believe Rage is an id Software product

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 9:55 am

from doom to quake to quake2 to quake3 to doom3, i never thought there would be any other game developers like id who always made near perfect products
but rage changes my mind
now i'm in dead city fighting with a giant monster which shoots laser to me, and i'm feeling sorry for making a saved game here and delete all other saves
now everytime i try to reload the saved game from here, game crashes after loading
windows 7 64bit
gtx 560 ti with latest drivers
i7 870
8gb ram
and i'm pissed up
why release such a buggy product which seems like it was made by a classs "bottom" game company but a class one developer like id Software should be?
i'm thinking i should revert those money for battlefiled 3 or something else
if this is what it brings after id comes to Bethesda, i would rather they divided.

None of id's previous games were shipped bug-free. Quake 2 had 21 patches, with maybe half of those being released in the first 2-3 months. Just because a game crashes for a relatively small (but oh so very vocal) percentage of people doesn't mean that it shipped with any kind of major problems and doesn't mean that QA is slipping or has slipped.

Most of the buyers are console owners, so those are the platforms developers focus on.

dude, i really think the first vesion quake2 has much much less bugs than rage
now the solution is, changing AA from 32 to 4, and the level reloaded without problem.

"relatively small (but oh so very vocal)" - so they're not allowed to express themselves?

Sad but true.

That's because they didn't focus PC in the first place:

Have you seens the Q2 patch release notes lately? There were serious crashers in there.

Anyway, the important thing is - you got a solution.

Interesting question - were you setting AA in your driver's control panel or using the in-game menu option? There seems to be a pattern of problems emerging from people using settings in their driver control panels, so it would be useful to know if this is a first thing to suggest to anyone who's having problems. Trying to max out the game is potentially also a source of problems, of course.
