PC?

If so you can with the console commands, try the wiki for a list.

If PS3/360 ; You can change your style of play at any time and play as a warrior instead, just pick up a sword and put on some armor and then level up the skills. But you can not change races once you have started a character.

Yes, there is a PC Console command to change races - however you will get stuck with initial skill levels again if you use the wrong one. Supposedly you can use player.setrace and suffer no skill level reset, but using setplayerrace or showracemenu causes skill levels to revert to the starting values. Very weird, IMHO. Read all the details at http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Console

Your health, magicka, stamina and all skills - except those already maxed at 100 - also go back to level 1.

Oops, I misread my skills. Apparently Showracemenu and Setplayerrace both reset skills, BUT get confused and give you 100's in several that you may not have advanced much at all. Testing just now gave me Block 93 (instead of 57), OneHanded 100 (54), Archery 100 (81), Destruction 100 (33) and Restoration 100 (49). Truly weird.

And yes, Player.setrace "racename" seems to work without problem but you cannot change you name.
