Can't Cure lycanthropy (werewolf)

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 10:51 pm

This is the information as to how to cure WEREWOLF (lycanthropy):

Curing lycanthropy

At the end of the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Companions http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Companions#Main_Quests, a radiant quest "http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Purity" becomes available for those adventurers who wish to rid themselves of the beast within. As part of that quest, you must cut off the head of a http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Glenmoril_Witch, bringing it into the depths of http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Ysgramor%27s_Tomb, draw the spirit of the wolf from your body, and defeat it. Once the ritual is complete, your cure is permanent, and you cannot contract Lycanthropy again.
In order to remove the curse, the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dragonborn must have killed at least two of the witches, one for http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Kodlak, one for the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dragonborn,(if you kill all 5 witches you can cure all of the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Circle except for http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Aela who does not want to be cured).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROBLEM:

I have completed the questline and possess all 5 of the witches heads. I have cured Kodiak, and returned later to cure myself but can't cure myself. I can't seem to activate the fire.

Any suggestions? Did I miss something?

I had the same issue. You have to do quests with both Farkas and Vilkas to cure them of werewolf blood as well (MIGHT just be one of them now, I haven't tried to cure my character since before 1.4.)

So first off you need to have the Witches' Heads in your inventory, then head to Vilkas for work since he first asks to be cured. Do a radiant quest he gives you (beat someone up/kill jailbreaker/get heirloom etc.)
Head back to Jorrvaskr, hand the quest in, then ask for more work. Vilkas usually gives you his "Purity" quest after one job but if not, accept the radiant job he gives you then reload your autosave from when you entered Jorrvaskr. That usually has him offer "Purity" instead when you talk to him afterwards.
Then basically the same deal with Kodlak. Go to Ysgramor's Tomb, throw the head into the fire, kill Vilkas' wolf spirit and hooray he's cured.
If it doesn't let you throw a head in for yourself, then you have to do all of the above with Farkas until he gives you his own "Purity" quest. It will definitely let you use a head for yourself with Farkas.

Hope that helps. :)

I had somewhat of the same problem, did a little research and found out that I had to have cured Farkas during Purity before being able to cure myself.

I have a problem curing myself too, except after killing the witches and getting there heads, and going back to whiterun to find the guy dead. I didn't get the quest afterwards, there was no funeral, everyone is acting lke he hasn't died(except in other citys where they say Im so sorrrrrry)

Also for what it's worth, I cured myself earlier today on my third character. It DOES offer to cure yourself once you cure Kodlak but you have to throw your own witch head in right afterwards. I decided to get the Totems with Aela before patching myself up.

I did a radiant quest for Vilkas, turned it in, he didn't offer his Purity quest. I went to talk to Farkas and he had it available, so we skipped off to Ysgramor's Tomb, I cured Farkas AND myself right after. So they have made it a lot less of a total pain to cure yourself since I last tried it during Patch 1.2.

Thanks for the help guys... guess I'll try it these ways and see if I have any luck. Already did the totems quest and then married the woman. Aela isn't as good in the sack as you would think!
